With all the good news about the QUEEN concerts, I guess no one has noticed that Adam's new single HAS BEEN RELEASED to radio. I was driving to work and had on Larry Flick on OUTQ on Sirius. At about 9:35 am, Larry said here is Adam Lambert's new single, and he thought it would be a smash. After the last few days, I was ready to hear Trespassing. The music started and it was: NEVER CLOSE OUR EYES. So there you go. The single has been released to radio without an announcement or any fanfare! Great going RCA! And no it does not sound like the clip. Now it sounds EXACTLY LIKE BRUNO MARS! I was pissed. I tried to log on from my iPhone right then and there. But my password kept being rejected. So I had to wait until lunch to drive home so I could give everyone the news. Sorry for the downer. But now radio will have no excuse not to play. They would play it if the name on the record said Bruno Mars! Will wait for confirmation from Adam about this, but if true - I feel like a person who anticipated great sex but the climax never came:-( OK, don't get me wrong... I will support any song that is the next single and I do like the song NCOE, But I wanted Trespassing or Cuckoo to be the next single. Yes, it is about Adam and not me, just sharing my personal feelings here among friends. To end on a happy note, YEAH to the new Queenbert rumors:-) and seeing Trespassing on my TV tonight...

My initial reaction to the Larry Flick NCOE was dismay. A gut feeling that I couldn't control. I will now consciously try to be more upbeat. :D But what really is dismaying is the low key secretive way it was introduced if it in fact IS single #2. WTF RCA? But official adds date and "sent to radio" are not the same thing. Perhaps they got it and were told to "Wait until.... (Tues, Fri, whatever day") Larry is weird so I can see him doing what he damn well pleases. If radio is playing it even before they are supposed to, I will take that as a VERY GOOD sign!

So how can we hear this song? The Sirius site says you have to be a member to listen online. Anyone?

NCOE wasn't my favorite of the snippets but it is the only one I absolutely cannot get out of my head. Someone mentioned before about Cukoo being great for proms, etc., but I think NCOE fits that whole season perfectly. Those are the nights you want to last forever. I think it's a good choice and will do really well. I don't think it will hurt to have the Hooligans help requesting either. True. And Bruno is proud of the song. If he says good things about it, and about Adam, that could be a real winning situation. I'm moving through the stages of grief pretty quickly here! But trespassing and cuckoo will always be my first loves.

If indeed NCOE is the next single, I hope it will be embraced by Bruno Mars fans as well as Adam fans. That should give it enough of a push to be played and to get pretty high on the charts. Then, with a solid hit under his belt, Adam might have better luck getting the next single--this time, Trespassing or Cuckoo--played on the radio. If I were the one making the choice, I'd go for broke and release Trespassing or Cuckoo now, but my instincts about what makes a hit are nonexistent. To my ears, much of what I hear on radio is crap, but they're big hits.

The song on Larry Flick was not the Bruno demo. It was fully orchestrated. Who knows, maybe radio will play Adam if he sounds more like Bruno. Remember Jessie J didn't get played until she sounded like Katy. LOL, heathcliff, sad to say this is sooooo true! First time I heard Domino I thought "Wow--JJ sounds JUST LIKE Katy Perry!" even though I know better. BUT I'm waiting for the official announcement of what the new single is, and I'll get behind whatever song they choose. They're all good, and I know ONE OF MY FAVS will eventually be a single! ;D *snaps, turns, leaves, muttering "fuck radio anyway"--too much goodness to angst over that can o' worms--they just better PLAY whatever single is next!

IMO: It's great if YOU think NCOE is not the best choice for the next single, but it's a totally different thing to automatically proclaim that RCA made a bad decision of picking the next single (not that I've read this here, but just sayin'). Truth is, we do not know what goes on behind closed doors. What we do know is that RCA is invested in this project (especially financially) and by all signs wants Adam's album (and thus his next single, a paramount part of the album launch) to do well.
Some think that Trespassing or Cuckoo would have been preferable. Yes, of course, there is the argument that Adam cowrote them so his "babies" would be out in the world. I totally get that, and I am a little disappointed, I must admit, that this is not the case. But WE DO NOT KNOW which song would have been /would be more successful at radio.
RCA has much more information than we do about this. Imagine this:
What if RCA heard back from PDs overwhelmingly saying they think NCOE would be the best fit for radio?
What if the results of surveys from Hit Predictor and other sources, done under an anonymous name, show NCOE to be the clear front runner in the preferences of the general public (non Adam fans)?
What if RCA told Adam: "Based on this response, we will release NCOE first, but we promise that we will release Cuckoo next, and give it our full support?"
Then would you still not want NCOE as the next single? (assuming that you care about Adam's presence on radio, which is the main assumption here).
Fact is, we do not know what goes on behind the scenes. I can only trust that RCA is defending its own interests too, in trying to make this successful.
ETA: Edited for clarity

Okay, shoot me... but of the four snippets we had, NCOE was my immediate favorite, and even more so, when I got to hear the whole acoustic versions. And I confess: I don't like TP that much. Seen as a live performance, like at NNN, it is great, but when you just listen to it, to me it's boring. I know people here love TP, but it just doesn't click with me - sorry! If NCOE is the next single, I will be sooo happy! I won't shoot you. I love NCOE. I still think TP is a great sexy, compelling performance song, but maybe wouldn't translate as well to radio. ETA-
WAIT A MOMENT! Nationalglampoon-Who said the album is delayed till July?
