Cuckoo and Trespassing have been done for months. The way I see it, the label/ radio/whoever have passed on them twice now. And, if that wasn't enough, RCA delayed the album as they scrambled for 2 or 3 new "radio friendly" tunes. I think there were multiple reasons for the delay, and reducing it to this might not be entirely accurate IMO. Adam has said: a) new songs -- as far as we know only the revamped NCOE was among the single options that were new songs that went on the album later. Maybe Pop that Lock or one of the Deluxe edition songs are too, but we haven't heard anything about them as potential singles if that's the case. b) coordinating an international rollout -- makes sense c) giving more time for BTIKM to climb and a new single to be released - seems crucial

Probably the same way that Kelly Clarkson feels, and lots of other artists, who don't get the singles they co-wrote on released to radio. Of course, Kelly has now sold about 4 million copies(just in the US) of her first two singles and her album (that has been out for five months) just sold 33,000 copies this past week and is on its way to being platinum! I doubt she is crying in a corner about the fact that most of her big hits haven't been co-writes, but those songs written by others have kept her relevant and on the Worldwide charts for a DECADE now! Kelly Clarkson is just fine and I'm sure Adam can learn to live with the same situation that many successful artists over the years have had to live with. Adam made five million dollars in 2011, he is probably okay with that! Curious about the bold part in above post, how did Adam make $5mil last year when he didn't do anything? did I miss something? Sorry, if this question sounds kinda...silly.

NCOE is single 2? Oh well. Maybe he'll crack the UK on album 3. I know this wasn't your favorite (mine either to be honest). But we haven't heard the final version yet, and even the UK reviewers who've heard it so far liked it. Hang in there bb.

NCOE is single 2? Oh well. Maybe he'll crack the UK on album 3. lol. BUT--do you know who Jordan Meehan is? He's a young gay blogger/music critic and his single pick for the UK WAS the unfinished version of NCOE he heard...so, who knows? The proof will be in the pudding! (I've never known exactly what that idiom means, but it seems appropriate!)

Actually, the fact that Sony UK is using this single is my biggest glimmer of hope that this is the right choice! :-/

It is my opinion --- okay, my guess--- that Trespassing is going to be an awesome album. Almost everyone who has heard tracks from it has raved about them. And raved about his incredible voice.
Could it be that the response from radio personnel was, "This is great music. You are a great singer. I would buy this album in a heartbeat and crank it up loud in the car, in the gym, in the club. BUT, it is just not the kind of music that is being played on top 40 radio these days. Not what our demographic is asking for (tho' your fans avalanche our phones and emails with requests for anything you put out). Your album is a classic; but, we don't play classics on our station,"? So, Adam and RCA went back to the studio to make a couple of songs that would better fit what they think the radio peeps want. Throw two or three of those on the album and it will sell like hotcakes.
We've seen this phenomenon in the arts many times. Movies that are incredible artistic works with masterful acting and directing, and with significant themes, but "Dumb and Dumber" or "Transformers" or "X Men" easily top them at the box office. The profound movies get critical acclaim, but make little impact at the ticket booth. Or as another example, there is artwork that is visionary, edgy, massively creative, and poignant, but what do people hang on their walls? Thomas Kincade (RIP), which is pretty and makes people feel good but is not masterful by any artistic measure (with my apologies to Kincade fans). Or, much worse, we see velvet Elvis, dogs playing poker, and singing fish.
Face it. Great works of art often are not roundly embraced by the masses. (My favorite line in "Amadeus" is said to Mozart in criticism of one of his masterful compositions: "Too many notes.")
If NCOE is what radio wants, what it will play (despite the fact that Adam's voice is "too good"), then, by all means, put it on the album and make it a single. It's certainly leagues better than singing fish or "I'm gonna fuck you betta". When people end up buying the album because they love NCOE, they may develop an appreciation for artistry in pop music. Baby steps. Baby steps.

NCOE is single 2? Oh well. Maybe he'll crack the UK on album 3. Well....before I say good night I want to give a global . Some of us might feel disappointed in the next single and the music industry in general for always wanting to keep people in a box but Adam is getting his music out for all of us to enjoy. I believe ultimately Adam's artistic vision can't be denied...he's just too f*ucking good and is not afraid to do what it takes to be heard. In time his artistic creativity will explode on the world and he'll get to experiment and create art just like Bowie was able to do! That is how I feel. For now....WE HAVE A NEW SINGLE!! Good night.
