Wanted to get some feedback from Q3 or other people familiar with marketing. What do you think about the single being offered for free, on i-Tunes, with the Deluxe album pre-order? It will cost a lot in i-Tunes charting. Gonna be really hard to get the number up with it being offered free with Deluxe. Is this procedure being done because RCA is so high on the album? Is this a risky thing to do? How many times have they done this? I can't recall any other Idol that has had this happen. :-/ NAL did. I'm pretty sure this is standard OP when the album is so close to the single release. Didn't they do this for Kelly's MKIA as well? Kelly, Daughtry, Cook, and Adam have done it thru the fan site. No one has done it thru i-Tunes. I am pretty sure about that. And Kris' fans didn't even get a free DL from the fan site. Pretty sure. I will go and check right now. BRB ETA: Yes, I am correct. No free single DL offered with Kris' album order at Kris Official. Which makes his first week sales of 11,000 even a more dismal number. |

But Gaga or Madonna don't need their singles to be high on i-Tunes for some radio stations to take notice. I can see that strategy for them being OK. I am wondering why RCA is doing it for Adam? Seems to me, they would want the single to get really high next week. I would think the free i-tunes single strategy is counter productive to that, unless you are huge. The only way it makes sense, to me, is that they are really pushing the album, over the single. But since I have zero marketing experience, I was wondering if we had any experts who could weigh in!  |

I will go and check right now. I really felt that the free BTIKM on AO with a purchase of Trespassing was really hurtful to the songs success in terms of number of sales. Somehow everything seems backwards in relationship to this new album. But of course I know nothing.. maybe it's all good. |

It seems that in some instances that they are acting like he's some Lady Gaga, Britney or Madonna. I remember you saying that for their other artists, they usually have the single playing on radio for a couple of weeks, before they put it for sale on Itunes/Amazon. But it seems that they have Adam, for BTIKM and NCOE, going on sale and radio the same day. I remember that that happened for the before mentioned artists, but they can do that because they're huge, and radio jumps on their songs, and plus UMG throws money out to these radio stations to guarantee radio play on that day. Do they really think that Adam's fanbase is that big, that we can push it straight to the top for a few days, or a few weeks till radio catches on for casual fans to pick up the songs from constant radio airplay? A lot of this makes no rhyme or reason.. |

A lot of this makes no rhyme or reason.. No I do not think that Adam's fanbase is that large, but I do think that his Fanbase is as vocal as a Bieber's or Gaga's. Maybe that is what RCA is counting on? |
