MWP and Mika, thanks for the Cory Booker links. I remember watching his speech on marriage equality when Mika first posted it, and I was so impressed with both his words and the way he said them. And the latest story is kind of incredible. What an amazing guy. On topic: Adam is also an amazing guy. ;D

Bruno Mars has some really stupid songs out there and they get played. Bruno does not have the greatest voice or range. He came out the same time as Adam and he made it. If Adam wasn't gay and coming off idol, he would in my opinion be bigger than Bruno right now. Well, Bruno's been performing since he was a wee child. He made his mark as a songwriter before he became a star himself. No one can say he didn't pay his dues, just as they can't say that about Adam. I like his voice, his performances are energetic and hot, and I like his songs. I do not consider them stupid. THIS ^^^^ And in pop music it's not about THE voice. It's about the whole package. And Bruno has the whole package.

Okay, this is a random collection of waaaay OT ramblings, which I post only in the safe knowledge of a brand new spanking-clean thread hovering somewhere above me... First of all, I'm digging the new Scissor Sisters single that Adam posted, but something about it was driving me crazy and I finally figured out what it was...Anyone else get a very strong Katy Perry Firework vibe from the song? Sound so similar to me, especially the line around :25 secs that goes: "we've gone too far beyond the borders its just you and I" which sounds JUST like the line around :35 secs in Firework that goes: "six feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing": Which is not to accuse Scissor Sisters of anything--LOVE THEM--but just to point out how hard it is not to use unconscious musical echoes in ones work. Also, I figured just in case anyone else was bugged and trying to place the same memory... And a totally different even more remote topic... Do any of you remember when Mika posted that awesome vid of Newark Mayor Cory Booker laying down the law about New Jersey's talk of putting marriage equality to a public vote? Here it is again in case you missed it: Anyway, that DUDE is unbelievably awesome. Turns out yesterday he ran into a burning building, against the will of his security detail, to rescue a young woman from a second-floor apartment. Yeah, cause he's a bad-ass. You really couldn't write this shit any better. So for all you Booker fans, enjoy: www.cbsnews.com/8301-505263_162-57413588/newark-mayor-cory-booker-race-into-home-fire-was-a-come-to-jesus-moment/People tweeted some pretty hilarious things today under the hashtag #CoryBookerStories. For example: "Seal Team 6" was actually just the code word for Cory Booker. #CoryBookerStories and, to keep to today's topic of choice: Cory Booker's Form 1040 lists humanity as a dependent #CoryBookerStories Anyway, sorry for being soooooo off topic! *Tiptoes quietly (and quickly) out of thread!!!*... HOLY MOLY THIS MAN IS POTENTIALLY AWESOME! (I NEED TO CHECK HIM OUT MORE) BUT YES! WE NEED MEN AND WOMEN WHO STAND FOR WHAT IS RIGHT LIKE THIS!!!!! OH YEAH!

There are no guarantees, even for NCOE. We have to keep in mind that there are 10-20 singles sent to radio every week, some from established Pop artists. These singles also come from good writers with great production behind them and some with big name collabs. Many of these artists are also doing the big radio shows that Adam is doing in the future. It really is a big guessing game! An artists needs a catchy song, good timing, tons of money and deals behind the single and a great deal of outright luck! Labels don't always get it right, even for big time artists like Bruno, Rihanna or Kesha. Even when they do get it right, there can still be other factors in whether a song makes it to the top of the charts or not. It's not anywhere close to an exact science! You have a very good point. We have probably all experienced the same thing in our lives. You apply for a job. You have the experience, the education, the recommendations, the right "fit" with the position, you dress appropriately for the interview, you are articulate and warm when meeting the interview team. However, in these economic times, there are hundreds of applicants for the same position, and more than a handful have credentials as desirable as yours. Anyone of them could get the job instead of you. The tipping point may be something as minor as whose references, when called, were the most effusive. Or whose resume was printed on a better grade of paper. Or someone who went to the same university as the chair of the search committee. Or the flip of a coin. And, in the real world, the job may be awarded to someone with significantly less qualifications than you and the other handful. Someone who has no experience, but whose uncle works for the company. Someone who lies and kisses up to the members of the search committee. Someone who is ten years younger with you, or has bigger boobs. Someone whose daddy is influential and offered the committee chair membership in the country club. Yeah, that's life. It ain't always fair. In fact, it mostly ain't fair. Adam has an extraordinary talent, a keen intelligence, and a compelling charisma. He has produced some very catchy, enjoyable tracks. RCA is doing the very best they know how to do to get him a big hit on radio. Hope it all comes together, and he gets the job. If not, that does not take away one iota from his creation and his craft. RL and scrollAdd on to the above reasons why one gets rejected: Do not underestemate internal turf wars. If the one putting out a search for a position is not aligned with TPTB, he/she gets shot down along with any prospective candidates (at levels so high and so far into the process you would not believe), and not for a reason an external would ever understand. If the company is not aligned re the new acquisition, the whole process is going nowhere. PS: I work for headhunters

Here is my purchasing plan for NCOE. I will buy the single on iTunes on 4/17, not the album. I already have preordered a physical cd from Amazon. When TRESPASSING cd is released on 5/15, I will buy the download version of the album on iTunes. I know that means that the previous iTunes purchase of NCOE will be subtracted from the sales count. To offset that, I will download the single from Amazon. That way, I am getting my purchase of the single to count in first week sales with no real reduction later. Does this make sense to anyone else? I'm a financial analyst in RL. and this is the best i can do. I second that! Sounds like a PLAN!
