I'm feeling a bit down in the mouth about BTIKM.. I love the song and i love the video and I hate to see critics putting it down as a failure. I don't believe it did as well as others and I'm sure NCOE will be a hit,but i still think the song is a really good one and have spent many hours listening to it. Not every song that a singer sings will be a raving success. Not everyone ,even Gaga,Madonna,Bruno, etc. has a perfect record. It's getting so artists can't do their art. Kind of like the movies and TV, every thing is cloned.. so to the music business. Is there any room left for creativity and experimentation,is it all about the bottom line. How about ART?
I guess America would have never understood the meaning of a Renaissance period, We don't seem to value anything but money..and patrons of the arts are rare .
I feel for singers, like Adam and others who are so gifted ,but what matters is how many bucks they bring in. Is it a wonder that singers are hurting their vocal cords, losing their voices, they are over extended and pushing themselves beyond the possible. Just had to vent..

Fans did not get BTIKM to #11 on the Pop Chart. BTIKM hit #19 on the Adult Pop Chart and #76 on the Billboard Hot 100. On the Mediabase Top 40/CHR/Pop airplay chart it peaked at #51. A long way from #11. JMHO Fans cannot get a song up to the top of the Pop airplay chart -- PDs need to do that. Sometimes PDs will do it because they see a song is really popular but not always. I think she was talking about iTunes. OH DUH!!! <headed up to correct my post!!>

jonalisblog.com/2012/04/12/adam-lambert-never-close-our-eyes-single-premiere/Adam Lambert: ‘Never Close Our Eyes’ Single Premiere! Check out the premiere of Adam Lambert‘s brand-new track “Never Close Our Eyes!” The track will serve as the second official single off his sophomore album, Trespassing, due out May 15th! The upbeat new single was co-written and produced by none other than Bruno Mars and master hit-maker Dr. Luke and should serve as the proper track to rule the airwaves for Adam. “Never Close Our Eyes” lets Adam‘s powerhouse vocals shine through the massive pop melody and crisp production. It’s been crafted to perfection. What do you guys think? This one needs to be reported on AO for same reason as earlier. Somebody?... >:( >:( >:( Great minds think alike.

I wasn't talking about any Billboard or Mediabase charts. Every post I have made about this today has been about i-Tunes. When BTIKM came out we, the fans, got it to #19 overall and #11 Pop. It was only a day, but it did happen. I am fixing my post!! DUH!! <hits head, gets glass of wine, whines about working too much this week.....>

I hope that fans can get NCOE into the top 50 on iTunes initially, and then something like the AI performance that Thursday can push it close to top ten. I don't know if that is possible, but James Durbin got a huge iTunes bump for his single and it started from basically nothing.
Basically, I am not going to worry about first week sales because the song seems so CHR friendly.

Don't be sad melliemom. Hopefully if NCOE is the big hit everyone seems to think it will be, people will go back and discover BTIKM and the stupendous video. I think of all the great songs I discovered years after the fact!! In the end it shouldn't matter at all. *fingers crossed*

Just because a song was not a hit doesn't mean that critics don't like it. I have read a few reviews where the reviewer says they liked the song or gave it a positive review but it was not a commercial success. And lack of radio success and track sales is not a reason to not love a song. I think BTIKM was a terrible choice as a lead single -- BUT I think RCA has corrected that with NCOE. So all is good in the end. And BTIKM made the Hot 100 -- albeit #76 -- that makes it a "miss" but not a failure IMHO.
