I'm feeling a bit down in the mouth about BTIKM.. I love the song and i love the video and I hate to see critics putting it down as a failure. I don't believe it did as well as others and I'm sure NCOE will be a hit,but i still think the song is a really good one and have spent many hours listening to it. Not every song that a singer sings will be a raving success. Not everyone ,even Gaga,Madonna,Bruno,etc. has a perfect record. It's getting so artists can't do their art. Kind of like the movies and TV, every thing is cloned.. so to the music business. Is there any room left for creativity and experimentation,is it all about the bottom dollar. How about ART? Don't be sad melliemom. Hopefully if NCOE is the big hit everyone seems to think it will be, people will go back and discover BTIKM and the stupendous video. I think of all the great songs I discovered years after the fact!! In the end it shouldn't matter at all. *fingers crossed* Thank you Juniemoon. Sometimes I just get so discouraged with the superficiality and money hungry people who run the music business. It just seems that they cater to the lowest common denominator for profit.I remember when American POP music was terrific, when there was actual support for new artists,when they could be nurtured and had time to grow and develop their craft. Hmmm maybe I'm dreaming, it was probably always" a dog -eat- dog" business. Ok I think I'll go look for a valium.. a stiff drink will make me sick. :-/ |

I don't know how it will go, but if James can take his song from nowhere to the 100's on iTunes, then I hope NCOE will just explode after that AI performance. I am no Durbin fan, but to his credit he put together a very good performance (and one that was markedly different from what has been happening on AI this season) and the song, while I haven't bought it, is the only one I actually kinda like on his album.
I think NCOE has a lot of potential for a huge AI performance.

Just read "elsewhere" that the three songs on the deluxe album are "Runnin", "Take Back", and "Nirvana". I don't know if this is correct, however. Then there will be another for Europe.
Do we know of more titles?

Any NorCal peeps driving to LA for the mini concert want to carpool? If so, please PM me. Or is there a thread for this that I haven't noticed? peace&love Not a NorCal person, but I wanted to piggy back on your post to also ask if there is a thread for the Kimmel mini concert. I know that twitter is where a lot of you are also connected, but I don't do twitter. I would love to meet up with some folks for this. Even though I live in LA, I have missed out on much of the fun (all the various tapings, Gridlock and FS  ) I did go to Costa Mesa and the Music Box, so I have said hi to a few here at Atop (though you may not remember me - *waves* to MyS*&@^#r, SusieFierce, Q3, aloha, JustKaren, momtomany, tinafea, grandduchesspf) Back then, I was able to scope out PFers because of the bracelets we all had. Was wondering, if I didn't have twitter how would I find you all???? |

I hope that fans can get NCOE into the top 50 on iTunes initially, and then something like the AI performance that Thursday can push it close to top ten. I don't know if that is possible, but James Durbin got a huge iTunes bump for his single and it started from basically nothing. Basically, I am not going to worry about first week sales because the song seems so CHR friendly. James bump is the first big one any Idol has had all season. His bump is bigger than Daughtry's was! Crazy! How can we get the single into Top 50, if the DL won't count though? What method will work? I guess DL it first, then pre-order the album? Or DL the single this coming week and pre-order the album the following week? I am still so confused. I need to join Q3 with the Martinis and the chocolate! Scotty's and Haley's bumps got them up into the 50s or above on iTunes. Getting to 160 isn't going to be that big of a total sales number. Haley's bump lasted for a week, which was unusual! Durbin's song will probably start dropping like a rock fairly soon. |

I want a physical single album, so I pre-order one from AO. If you only want digital, there is no difference, except that people will get to see the i-tunes sales charting. Up thread somewhere mentioned that we'd get a free down of NCOE when pre-order the deluxe on iTunes, is that right? thx. *If you buy from any outlet besides AO, it may drive the CD higher in their chart which may lead to a) more casual browsers seeing it, b) the retailer discounting the price which in turns leads to more sales *Probably the Amazon charts are the one most people pay attention to outside of Itunes. *The Wallmart albums both regular and deluxe come with a signed booklet (whatever that is) If you want a digital download of the CD you can get that from AO, or Amazon or Itunes. *The Itunes chart is the one most people will notice. If you don't want to negate your previous single purchases choose 'NO' when prompted to complete your album on itunes. Or if it won't let you do that, buy NCOE again  (BTIKM numbers prob don't matter at that point). If you want a digital download of NCOE you can get that from itunes or Amazon.* Itunes charts are most important. One other note -- some fans have said that some retailers (CD Wow?) might not count towards certification, so that's another good reason to stick with the more established ones if you aren't sure. |
