I would like to thank everyone for the kind words of encouragement today over the whole Queen debacle. I did not mean to bring the thread down, or come off being selfish or one sided for my needs, as I know there are many of us in the same boat. I am in a much better state of mind this evening, and will readdress it on Monday with a clear head. If anyone hears of any details on the Kiev show, I would be interested into looking into tickets for it, as that and Moscow would make attempting more changes worthwhile. Thanks Much! I'm thinking that since they moved the Moscow date in order to accommodate the necessary changes caused by Sonisphere cancellation then maybe that rumor of them playing the close of the Euro 2012 Finals holds weight. The picture Gelly posted earlier just showed a listing for Elton in Kiev with only the month and year Jun 12 no day posted. Last day of the finals is July 1st. Maybe the Kiev concert is that weekend which would have made the Moscow date change necessary. It hasn't been announce yet though so it is all speculation at this point. You think the Adam/Queen/Elton in Kiev concert might be June 30th? Like you just said, that would explain the Moscow date change.

There are no guarantees, even for NCOE. We have to keep in mind that there are 10-20 singles sent to radio every week, some from established Pop artists. These singles also come from good writers with great production behind them and some with big name collabs. Many of these artists are also doing the big radio shows that Adam is doing in the future. It really is a big guessing game! An artists needs a catchy song, good timing, tons of money and deals behind the single and a great deal of outright luck! Labels don't always get it right, even for big time artists like Bruno, Rihanna or Kesha. Even when they do get it right, there can still be other factors in whether a song makes it to the top of the charts or not. It's not anywhere close to an exact science! You have a very good point. We have probably all experienced the same thing in our lives. You apply for a job. You have the experience, the education, the recommendations, the right "fit" with the position, you dress appropriately for the interview, you are articulate and warm when meeting the interview team. However, in these economic times, there are hundreds of applicants for the same position, and more than a handful have credentials as desirable as yours. Anyone of them could get the job instead of you. The tipping point may be something as minor as whose references, when called, were the most effusive. Or whose resume was printed on a better grade of paper. Or someone who went to the same university as the chair of the search committee. Or the flip of a coin. And, in the real world, the job may be awarded to someone with significantly less qualifications than you and the other handful. Someone who has no experience, but whose uncle works for the company. Someone who lies and kisses up to the members of the search committee. Someone who is ten years younger with you, or has bigger boobs. Someone whose daddy is influential and offered the committee chair membership in the country club. Yeah, that's life. It ain't always fair. In fact, it mostly ain't fair. Adam has an extraordinary talent, a keen intelligence, and a compelling charisma. He has produced some very catchy, enjoyable tracks. RCA is doing the very best they know how to do to get him a big hit on radio. Hope it all comes together, and he gets the job. If not, that does not take away one iota from his creation and his craft.

That is really interesting about the IRS. My poor dad has been hit with several of these letters about owing more money from the last couple of tax years, with penalties tacked on of course. He's almost 85 and it was a big source of pride to him all his life that he did his own tax returns. He keeps copies and all his notes about them in a box going back to 1947. He finally turned things over to an accountant this year but it really shook his confidence and made him feel senile. I'll be sure to tell him it's not just him! Consulting a tax attorney is a good thing. They alleviate these problems with careful planning but still keep you in the driver's seat.

IMHO,Being the best singer doesn't always attract the greatest number of fans, the most fame or the most success.I think where the singer comes from, what they seem to believe in and who the audience most identifies with becomes the STAR. Maybe a little tribal thinking involved. I say this after watching the last American Idol show. The most talented contestant ,a 16 year old girl , was saved from going home this week, by the judges.I think her last name was Sanchez .She sang Whitney Houston songs a while back and blew everyone away. With all that, she just didn't seem to fit the picture of who many people usually end up voting for. She is different looking, original& amazingly talented, but probably hard for many Americans to identify with. She's not a back home looking type of girl.
When I think back to other Idol shows,I am always struck by who American audiences pick. Very rarely has it been the best singers. Then I think of radio and I'm sure they are the same type of listeners and then somehow ,what we get on radio makes some kind of weird sense to me. With this in mind I am totally impressed at how far Adam has come.
But..... If he can't break through that final glass ceiling here, there is always Europe, where I think his talent would be greatly appreciated and being gay is more accepted.
TO add: after just watching that clip of Adam as a teenager, where he says he feels he belongs when he's on the stage, and how now in the music business he so wants to be in, he says he feels like he is not wanted and is Trespassing. That" it's like high school".This is beyond sad.

Here ya go before they take it down again! I'm not really an emotional ballad type either, but I think this one is going to be massive and moving! Y'all know that is not Adam singing, right? Whew! I'm glad you said that. I just listened to it for the first time ever and was sure it isn't him. But . . . didn't want to risk saying out loud. :D

I didn't direct this at you specifically. And it isn't really about people saying whether they liked BTIKM or not. It's just that back then most people thought it would be a hit. Yes, some did express concern with it being too slow tempo for the UK and a few didn't care for it but I don't recall people saying they thought it was a poor choice for a single. Now it feels like everyone has 20/20 hindsight. Maybe I am wrong, and it doesn't really matter. Just feeling deja vu and hoping for a different outcome this time. There are no guarantees, even for NCOE. We have to keep in mind that there are 10-20 singles sent to radio every week, some from established Pop artists. Even when they do get it right, there can still be other factors in whether a song makes it to the top of the charts or not. It's not anywhere close to an exact science! Not that this opinion carries any significant weight, he is not into hip dance club, etc..........review..........sent my eldest son, who did not like BTIKM AT ALL, thought it was totally boring :-/........he LOVES WWFM! Sooooooo, his layman opinion.......new single, bridge is what is interesting to him, much better than first single, however, not sold on the 80's feeling to the song. (80's?????? I am not commenting because I want to hear his honest opinion, although I would like to send him to a time out corner.) He wanted more WWFM music, he loved that song. What the heck is WWFM music?????? I sent him the video of Trespassing from the NNN Awards show and emailed back that he liked NCOE better. When I told him that Bruno Mars wrote NOCE he said that the song would be a hit if Bruno sang it just because it was Bruno singing it. I pray sometime in the very near future Adam will have a HIT just because he is singing it! Oh........ when I told him he is going to be the frontman for Queen...this reply is going to make you want to strangle him for sure ;D Mom, you do know that Queen is an older generation audience. Anyone want to adopt this misfit???????????????????????????

Bruno Mars has some really stupid songs out there and they get played. Bruno does not have the greatest voice or range. He came out the same time as Adam and he made it. If Adam wasn't gay and coming off idol, he would in my opinion be bigger than Bruno right now.

I hesitate to reply to this because earlier today a mod said this was off-topic but damn, it tickled my funny bone! Sounds like a commercial! I'm ready to go hire a tax attorney and I don't even need one. I'm such an impressionable burrito. On topic so I won't get booted from ATOP for life, I pre-ordered the album from Best Buy and Wal-Mart today. I've already pre-ordered from AO, Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Damn, I hope no one mentions another source. I've still got to buy from I-Tunes. I may need a tax attorney come May 15th. Oh wait, no, maybe a bankruptcy lawyer.
