Okay, if Adam doesn't do well this era, I am reading from posts above, it's RCA's fault, NO MONEY AND MANPOWER FOR ROLLOUT. Well, that is not wanted I wanted to hear this morning. Yes, he is not Kelly, but a valuable asset. To destroy an asset is suicide. I hope this is not true. Why oh why does Adam get shyte flung at him. He has enough to deal with. Makes me want to spend more money, and buy more albums to support him. Well, No, because those facts are wrong. RCA did not file for bankruptcy. They just restructured because their CEO left. Every artist has not been pushed back. As a matter of fact, if we are discussing Idol people, Daughtry was pushed up This is what I found. There was an article that went with it somewhere, which of course I can't find now. >:( "In early 2012, Sony Music was sued by record label employees, due to a $500000000 bankruptcy from a record label bidding war. All of their owned labels such as Epic Records and Columbia Records were shut down alongside Jive." Maybe they escaped bankruptcy by merging and their massive lay offs? ??? Daughtry took two and a half years between his last albums. It may have been rushed along at the end to get it ready for Thanksgiving sales, but RCA has clearly slowed down or pushed back all their major artists. Daughtry and Kelly normally had a two year window between albums. This two and a half year span is a new thing for RCA and it has been the case for Daughtry, Kelly, Cook and now Adam and Kris. Chris Brown (everyone's favorite ) cd has been pushed back from 5/8 to 7/3. This is the second time they have pushed CB back from an announced date. RCA has pushed back pretty much every major release since Daughtry's, Kelly's and Hot Chelle Rae's back in Nov/Dec 2011. They have pushed back Leona, Monica, Posner, Adam, Brown (twice). All had previously announced release dates. Alicia Keys was expected to release late last year as well but did not. It is a pattern. mys*&@^#r: I am looking!! Maybe the company was threatened with bankruptcy, so they closed down certain divisions and merged to avoid it? I don't want to start something that isn't true, and this may not be true at all! I read it a while back and remember thinking that explained why they always seem to be one step behind.

I have been thinking a bit about what RCA is up to with Trespassing today. Getting radio support is a good think. Having pop hits is a good thing. But there are many ways to promote an album. And more than one way to use radio and TV to promote an album. Adele's US marketing campaign was described as a "long-tail" campaign. It is one promo model and I think RCA may be doing something similar for Adam. (They used it really effectively for Kelly.) First sell albums to the existing fanbase -- the people who bought FYE, use multiple points of media including the web to build awareness of the release, then capture new fans by promoting a hit single after the release. To illustrate, this is the US release and charting history for Adele: Adele "Rolling in the Deep" lead single. 11.29.10 released 12.25.12 debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #68 Adele 21 (album) released US February 22, 2010 Debuts at #1March 2012 #1 on the Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks May 2012 #1 Billboard Hot 100 From Billboard: "....so Columbia was brilliant in thinking, 'Right, OK, let's build this record at a grass-roots level.' It wasn't about flying the record out and going for the jugular. It was a slower process, looking for the right TV looks, building at triple A and hot AC, generally snowballing through multiple platforms. Consequently, people bought into her, not into a song."
"At the time we really had no other choice," Columbia chairman Steve Barnett says. "The American market is a world of niches, and Adele didn't fit perfectly in any of them -- certainly not at radio. But we knew people had to experience her, so we took an old-fashioned approach. She had to go out and play, and because she's so captivating, we felt that if we got the right TV opportunities, she'd be able to cut through."
.....
Barnett says that the "long tail" sales theory fundamentally shaped the label's "21" campaign, which Greer describes as being "about building a critical mass throughout February in order to reach all those people who bought '19' over a span of 18 months." For help facilitating those connections, Columbia has sought support from "everywhere we had it in the first place," Greer says. "We had Adele [in New York] in September and went to some of our key partners" -- Vevo, AOL and VH1, among others -- "to play a few songs and say, 'Hey, I'm back!' "[/color] Link: www.billboard.com/#/features/adele-the-billboard-cover-story-1005015182.story?page=2Will Adam sell as much as Adele? -- well no almost certainly not. But is this a good promo strategy. I think so. Does it make all the strange promo moves make sense? -- mostly. It explains that strange digital promo of BTIKM is December 2011, the long wait to push BTIKM to radio, the free track with album preorder promos on iTunes and AO.com, the much hyped single selection process, the extensive radio tour, the coast to coast to coast radio promo mini concerts, etc. It is the only thing that makes sense to me.

Hi All. Haven't been around much due to RL taking over almost all of my time. My stanning has taken quite a hit.... Long story..... . But I have been stopping by every few days or so and take a quick look to try to keep in the loop. I'm jumping in right now because I'm sitting here, checking up on Adam and you guys, while listening to Fox 5 News on TV. And I just witnessed some new Irish/British boy band making a personal appearance on Elvis Duran (Z100), which I listen to every day, hoping to hear Adam (nada so far). And yet, there is not-so-young Elvis Duran chatting away w/these kids, on-air. Even more surprising, Fox gave what seemed to me a big chunk of time to the radio show and interview. They even had a Fox reporter, 'live, on the scene.' The boy band has a number 1 hit so I can expect that radio will be playing that up. But Fox 5 new? Am I missing something here? I don't think I will ever understand how anyone can listen to Adam and not hear what we hear. I guess the fans of this new group are young girls who don't appreciate a beautiful voice/person, only a cute face or two, or three....LOL Sorry to ramble...Gotta get ready for work. I'm just disappointed in radio around the tri-state area, esp. Elvis. Thought he, of all people, would have jumped on Adam's bandwagon by now. Jealousy, perhaps? dunno......sigh...just gonna have to sit tight and wait for 5/15/12 ...... I can't agree more. Honestly I also can't figure out why everybody don't hear what we hear when Adam sings?! Its really puzzles me. I think bigotry plays huge role in this. I wish I were wrong! On a brighter side I am quite positive that Trespassing will be huge and this makes me happy. ;D Musically and lyrically this album is a masterpiece!! O, yes, I am not exaggerating!

I googled "Sony sued by employees", and the only article that came up was a Facebook posting: www.facebook.com/pages/Sony-Music/115130658497887"In early 2012, Sony Music was sued by record label employees, due to a $500000000 bankruptcy from a record label bidding war. All of their owned label such ..."I'm not on Facebook so maybe someone can take a look. But the reorganization of RCA took place in 2011, when Doug Morris came on board, so this suit, if it is real, would not have been the cause of the restructure. Doug Morris "retired" the Arista, J and Jive labels and reassigned their acts to RCA or Epic. It looked like they were trying to streamline the organization to save costs, given the current state of the music business. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Music_Entertainment
