I don't know why the Rolling Stone review used the word strident.. It means shrill and grating.. Are there different meanings that are positive for strident. Weird use in a complimentary article. I don't get it. Obviously, this writer used the wrong word, because he thinks the vocals are magnificant and yet "strident" means exactly what you said it means. :-/

Strident:1:conspicuously and offensively loud; given to vehement outcry; 2:unpleasantly loud ... I'll take vehement outcry. Adam does say vehemently Never Close Our eyes

I would like to had adds for next week. so that stations can add and play the song, Then have his AI impression reach the 1 m mark minimum to make an impact on single sales. I would like to have familiarity of the song when he sings it on AI. Wasn't WWFM a hit before he sang it on AI and his single sales for the performance were hugh. He won't have super sales of NCOE if no one is familiar. Ok he will have sales but probably not as high as the song would be played on a regular basis. Just reaching here because I'm truly disappointed in an adds date for a month away. Sorry but it take 10 million AI to make any real impression on sales and the impact date is kind of meaningless because radio doesn't have to wait for the impact date. The song has been released to radio and if they want to play it they can. Even if the impact date was next week there is no guarantee that he would have significant radio presence on CHR by the Idol performance. Obviously RCA is working a different playbook than what the fans expect. They are the ones with all the market data. Most of the time record companies get accused of only looking at the short term and milky ever penny they can get up front. But RCA's strategies with Adam all through the last era and this one so far indicate that they are more focused on the long term than the short term. This should be a good thing not bad. If they are confident enough in Adam to take a long term view we should be happy about that. I for one have been absolutely thrilled that RCA has been marketing the "artist" Adam Lambert and not the "product". They are not marketing him like a disposable pop act they are marketing him like an artist who is going to be around for a long time. The are building his audience. This is what people have been complaining that the record companies DON'T DO. People have been bitching for years that the labels don't invest in the long term career but everything RCA has said and done has indicated that they are invested in Adam's long term success so I just don't get why anybody is pissed at RCA. WOW!! I can't agree with this post more.

My first thought was that it means broad or powerful.... www.thefreedictionary.com/strident

Actually, RCA sort of fascinates and amuses me... kinda like, oh, I dunno... kind of like a Salvador Dali painting or something. LOL

I don't get it. [laughs] Strident doesn't have to mean shrill and grating! It just means prominent, in an attention-getting way. "The general's strident voice could be heard across the battlefield"So the RS review line: As for Lambert: The magnificence of his strident vocals defies all formula and precepts, mathematical and otherwise. is a GOOD thing !! :D

rihannsu wrote: I hear you. Strident-Perhaps the reviewer meant it as "masterful, powerful." Could anyone please give me a Youtube link to NCOE - one that will count for Adam. I know there are some on here, but have searched all over this board for one and can't find it.
