I liked the article and I got its point. Sometimes I feel like some people cling to every word, picking at it ( help!!! broken english!) when the meaning is obvious... like lingering on irrelevant technicalities... Adam apologized for making generalizations, which is yet another 'technicality', everybody knew he didn't mean that all gays are catty. This hanging on phrasing rather than on meaning is ridiculous, pedantic and laughable. It's hypocritical as well, in a sense: you perfectly well understand the meaning, but you'll play mad and pretend you don't, just to incite debate or accuse falsely. Welcome to America. I saw your theory yesterday and felt intrigued, and even more so today. You have a good point. Adam in the past hasn't been much for apologizing, especially not for political incorrectness ... perhaps there is a method to his madness.

This article actually irritated me. I do not put Adam and Johnny Weir into the same category. To me Johnny is more effeminate, and Adam is classic might I say gorgeous, alpha male. He is categorizing them as freaks, because they express themselves a little differently, and are in the entertainment business. He is basically stating that many of the gay males have lives just like you and I. To me that is a given. Hell we (gay, straight, transgender) are all human being with insecurities, families, jobs, stress, happiness, kids, etc. I don't think we do anything differently except in the bedroom. I know Adam says he's a freak. It's okay for him to say it, but protective mamma here don't want others saying it !!!! End of Rant !!!! First let me say Adam doesn't need a "protective mama" and part of the major problem I see Adam having continually is that attitude by women who are overprotective going off and acting like they know anything about the gay community when in fact they are straight 40-50 something ladies who don't live within that community and don't have a clue how the social structure works. The writer didn't say Adam OR Johnny were freaks. He said they are what many view as the 'stereotypical' gay man, not masculine ENOUGH. Adam wears makeup, Adam wears medges, Adam wears sheer shirts and leather pants. Adam IS androgynous so while he may not be as effeminate as Johnny Weir he isn't as butch as Neil Patrick Harris either. I thought the article was great. He is saying that REGARDLESS of how the public views an Adam or a Johnny, as a community they should embrace ALL their members because if THEY don't accept them then WHY should anyone else? edited to add: I'm always put off by people who seem to try to "prove" how MANLY Adam is...like OMG he can't be compared to Johnny Weir...Johnny's so ~girly. Adam isn't Alpha or beta...he is OMEGA...he embodies ALL aspects of the male and female gender. he is strong, confident, loving, graceful, nuturing, aggressive, funny, etc. Adam doesn't need to be labeled...he needs to be able to be himself and his community needs to embrace and support him. YES to all, but I don't entirely agree with the remarks about the ladies of forty and fifty. You don't have to be part of a group to be sensitive to that group. Sometimes people outside of any particular group are enlightened and have no baggage. Many of us have felt the sting of bigotry in our lives. Bigotry is bigotry, hate is hate.Let me add to be a women comes with all types of prejudice,on a daily basis, from the blaring of Tv ads,to what is going on our country today.,to how many women we have in Congress,to homophobic songs on the air,to get thin quick notices, to you're not pretty enough, you're not smart enough, you're too old and a women,I could go on all day. I love Adam for his talent ,I especially love him because he loves &honors women. I feel for him because I am a JEWISH WOMAN who has felt bigotry all my life.I will fight for Adam to be free in this society until I'm too old to fight any more and I don't have to be gay to do so.Equality is for all.

I know there is an AI thread (that I don't go to because I only watch the performances on you-tube afterwards) but I wanted to address this here. Forgive me if I am speaking with limited knowledge, because I have missed so much of this season. I listened to Joshua Ledet's "Ready for Love" performance after Adam tweeted about it and was really taken by the beauty of it, vocally and emotionally. I have been reading the comments on his you-tube and AI.com performances (I know, I know) and they are riddled with hate. He is coined the new "Jacob Lusk" . Apparently because they share similar skin-tones and singing style we are to assume that Joshua is a gay boy too (gasp!). Or maybe the clips I've missed clue us in to his sexuality, I don't know. But many of these commenter are not talking about his voice. I can't help but watch his beautiful performance--noticing that his dislikes are half of the likes--and see Adam's fight. This is the new civil rights fight Adam speaks of. Perhaps he is even fighting on two fronts, one for the color of his skin highlighted by his "churchy" R&B sound, and the other for his perceived sexuality. He may not deserve to win but he deserves a fair chance. I think in season 8, American came close to beating out discrimination. But in season 11, I think the combination of fights is going to be impossible for him to overcome. All he wants is to be heard. To be judged for his music....Just like Adam. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hylvMUtFyC8Hmm, don't hate me for this, but to me, he is a lot like Jacob Lusk. I actually named him the Jacob Lusk 2.0, but better voice and better performing skills, and um..smaller, lol. They do have similar singing styles though. With Jacob Lusk, i couldn't stand him once we got to the live shows. His singing, and performing skills was just so overwrought, and not in a good way, that it made it uncomfortable for me to watch at times. Joshua is what Jacob could have been if he would've honed his skills, and if he wasn't so annoyingly judgmental and preachy.

I'm sat here with my girly white hair and nail polish crying that Mr. article writer thinks I'm a bad gay Oh wait... ;D I hate people like that who think they can speak for everyone. Time to send him a tweet politely voicing my disapproval I guess my biggest thing about disliking that article is that in an attempt to write an article against stereotyping, the author is stereotyping! :-/ IMO the author is not stereotyping. Just like Adam said "sometimes", the author here is talking about "the majority" of the community , not all of them. And as I see, at least from what I read and what all of you are saying about the situation in the US , the author is right. IMO.

Maybe because it's not my nature to be calculating in this way, I find it hard to relate to. IDK but my take is that Adam was cut off yesterday at the AOL sessions, a very busy, hectic day I'm sure. When he got home, after noticing the #craycray , he had time to see the days events and maybe noticed a lot of angry or questioning tweets/opinions about his words in Instinct. He then reflected on what he had said and what others were now saying and concluded that he made some generalizations that he now regretted. That I can definitely relate to, lol. Anyway, who knows, but I do find it endlessly fascinating to speculate about what goes on in Mr. Lambert's head! ;D
