I appreciate these comments, they make me feel better. I've been kind of bummed out at the reaction to Adam's look on AI even though it's been positive and I understand why the look was appropriate for that situation. I don't want Adam to feel like he has to look like a boy scout to succeed. I fear the overwhelmingly positive comments may push him in that direction, but I hope mys*&@^#r is right and I shouldn't worry since he likes to change things so much. I think what got to me was that even many people who have loved Adam all along have expressed how much they love the "clean" look. So surprised because I love his other looks so much more. That was Adam changing it up, like he did week to week on AI. He hasn't forgotten who he is. He just wants everyone to see all the permutations. Plus all artists have to evolve and change their look as they go....like Madonna. As long as he doesn't start sporting any cone bra's anytime soon then whatever it a-okay with me. I actually love the more clean scrubbed look only because he had a tendency to wear waaaay too much foundation and it just made his skin look terrible. Too cakey and highlighted any skin imperfections. The look he rocked the other night --I'm sure he was wearing makeup--but it looked sooo much better. It highlighted him rather than detracted from him.

Carla, I so agree! I've had 2 friends, who know I am "Adam crazy" comment on how wonderful he looked and how beautiful he is and how much they liked that song and they had never heard it before, blah, blah, blah! I'm sure they were surprised at my reaction because instead of getting all excited that they had suddenly "discovered" him, I said, "Ya, that's just one of the sides of Adam. You'd probably like his Acoustic Live album. It's on i-Tunes." As someone, upthread said, hopefully these people will get reeled in and stay. Although, IMO, the WWFM performance was wonderful, last year. Why didn't that reel them in? I just don't want Adam to feel he has to do this to get more fans. I am 99% sure that is not the case. I think he is just going through a phase where he wants to change it up a bit. And we all know how much he likes to change it up. Like he said to Perez, "Watch, I'll probably end up wearing feathers on my next cover!" I appreciate these comments, they make me feel better. I've been kind of bummed out at the reaction to Adam's look on AI even though it's been positive and I understand why the look was appropriate for that situation. The one thing I think we can count on with Adam is that he is so joyously himself. And maybe one other thing to count on- he's easily bored. So what we've seen lately is the part of him that he's really into right now. One look at his face, and the happiness that just comes rolling off of him in waves, and I would be hard pressed to believe that he is doing anything at the moment because he thinks he has to. He spent a year immersed in the glam 24/7, he's bored with that at the moment, and one of these days he'll wake up in the mood for something completely different. And I'll love it. But he'll do it because it suits his mood or it's a good strategic representation of whatever he's up to at that moment, or whatever, but it won't be because he's worried about what people will think. One of the things I think we all love about him.

Thank you! I actually have a Mediafire account, so I saved all the individual files -- if you just want Adam singing, I will put a link on here for just that part. She has all the interviews, downloads of Adam and the whole show, screencaps and everything else you could imagine. Geez, and I thought I was a fan --

and to add to the discussion. I don't think Adam came as "boy next door" Adam to win over new fans. It was because he wanted the focus to be on the lyrics and message of the song and nothing else. He can't help it if he is so beautiful that we can't help but be mesmerized by the way he looks I agree, and part of me has mixed feelings about the desire for him to win over folks that have resisted in the past and are loving his Idol appearance. It's natural to want family members and friends to see him as you do, but are they the kind of folks who follow other pop stars? If they are fans of Bruno, or Pink, or Rhianna, or Lady Gaga, yes, then a new interest in Adam maybe likely to stick through his next album and tour. If they are in the Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, JoBro, and Beiber kids camp, as they grow older they may also stick with him (there is a strong Beliebert contingent already). If they are fans of more alternative music, or contemporary rock (Muse, Coldplay, etc.), or voice lovers helping to spike Adele's and Jessie J's sales, for example, they probably tend to take music pretty seriously, and once intrigued enough take a closer look at Adam, might become a fan. But if they aren't interested in music at all? Or love smooth Jazz or Easy listening? Or country? Or Susan Boyle? Or Christian artists? Or HAC? Lot's of these folks probably watch idol too... Of course any new fan and any buying spike is great, and Adam has a tendency to pull the most unlikely folks down the rabbit-hole, but adding to more of the older, more conservative, idol base of fans doesn't seem worth investing in a change in image or sound for Adam. I'd bet he's just following the dictates of his own muse (and for this performance, trying to focus all attention squarely on the lyrics of the song). And any formerly resistant fans won over by his lovely bare face? Great! But easy come, easy go in my mind if they don't decide to stick around. I won't lose any sleep over whether Adam should try to cater to them, no other pop star does.

I really don't think any of Adam's decisions about whether to go glam or plain or leather and lace or whatever he does has anything to do with conforming to people's ideas of what he should do. In fact I think when he feels pigeon holed into one style he'll do the opposite. This clean look for AI fit the song. He is always about interpreting the lyrics. Who knows what he'll do next, but what ever it is it will be a look he wants to do, not one he feels pressure to do.
