Adam Lambert announces American Idol 2012 return![/size][/color]

Adam Lambert is set to make his return to the stage from where he launched his music career.

The 30 year old singer shot to fame when he competed in the hit Fox talent series back in 2009, finishing second as runner up to Kris Allen.

He has went on to become one of the best selling, most popular stars of the show ever since and this week, Adam took to his Twitter account to announce that he was coming back.

He wrote:

“Exciting news! I will be returning to American Idol on May 17 to perform my new single “Never Close Our Eyes”! @americanidol”

Twitter was buzzing after his announcement and when he made the revelation to his more than one million followers, his comments were retweeted by thousands of fans, excited about his appearance.

Last Minute Out of Control

It's time for my next round of post-op cancer blood tests, which usually make me nervous. But I don't feel very nervous today because I've been laughing half the night. I found some behind-the-scenes video of my first few minutes with Adam Lambert. In it, I'm breaking down my initial approach to the guitar parts on his song "Shady."

Adam was late getting to the studio and I had limited time. I'd never seen this footage before because it was shot by my guitar tech. It was in a folder that I didn't recognize labeled "Last Minute Out Of Control."

Adam's cracking up too!

Share your vision and excitement with them. They are not the backing singers; they are the vajayjays. Make it a joy to work with you and they will do their utmost to help you create the performance.

I think the 21st century is a world in which the value of trust and reputation in making connections, creating and producing, has gone up massively. Each of us is a potential "brand" we can project onto a potentially global market. Information and choices are so myriad these days, that being someone who generates trust becomes an important asset for quick decisionmaking timeframes.

The other thing I would add about Adam is he is a man with vision. At some point in the creation process, that vision coalesces in his mind's eye, and then he goes for it, 100 per cent.

Cassie's post is a great breakdown of what it takes to have and build a great "brand". It is NOT the marketing. It is the combination of everything that happens down to the smallest detail and ensuring it all aligns to deliver consistently on promises. When what you do, what you say and what you believe intersect then you have a powerful brand foundation that can stand the test of time. Adam is building that, one interaction and performance at a time - which coincidentally is how all great brands are built (and conversely how they can also be destroyed).

It's not like they haven't been involved in a professional setting before. Plus, Adam has a musical director who has worked with the BIG names in the business. He knows what he is doing.

Adam has "people" that do things like musical arrangements, choreography, costuming, etc. I'm sure some of these aspects he has input, but most of the musical arrangements are left to those who are playing the instruments or the musical director. The musical director, band and background singers worked on music for several days without Adam.

I have no doubt he lets people do their thang, when they are hired for their expertise, and really listens to their advice. But i also think he gets interested in every aspect of this brand and his "expression".

My post was in response to a question to me about why the backing singers sounded so good when often, with other singers, they don't. I was just speculating, based on what I have learned about Adam. And I stand by it. Yes, Adam has "people" who take care of much. He has a music director to take care of many of the logistics and rehearsals. So do all the other artists who the poster was noting did not have such a good blend with their backing singers. Neil may have recommended these girls, all seasoned professionals. But Adam chose them and welcomed them into the family. Brian drilled the singers and band before Adam joined them. But, Adam, thru his connections, hired the right MD for the job, and conveyed his vision.

I have worked with many musicians in many situations. I know that the sum can be greater than the individual parts. An extraordinary leader can create magic with less than extraordinary musicians, or can gather the right musicians for the right parts and work with them and inspire them to create something marvelous. I have also seen a poor director, a tirant,, an egotist destroy the team of talented musicians and the subsequent production. Ultimately, it rests on the leader, in this case, Adam.

That's my story and I am sticking to it.

All I'm saying is there are a ton of other VERY talented musicians, singers and arrangers involved in these performances. The background singers sound good because they are professionals who have had years upon years of training and also had experience singing for and touring with a Grammy winning artist. Adam is great at what he does, but he didn't walk in and suddenly make these two women, who have countless years of experience, "sound good". That seems dismissive to these two talented vocalists.

Not to mention, Brian London who worked with these two ladies before Adam ever entered the building. Brian must be pretty good at what he does, or the BIG names like Bruno, Gaga, Rihanna and Katy Perry wouldn't have used him. Adam is lucky to have him!

Adam didn't make them who they are in two days anymore than he made Sasha a great dancer. She came in being an amazing dancer and excelled before and after the tour. There are other people who are talented outside of Adam.
