Sorry to extend the vajayjay conversations but:Yes, Adam shouldn't have to please people but if he is trying to make it mainstream he needs to consider the message he is putting out there to new fans. There are enough here with objections to make me concerned what preconceived notions the general public might make upon hearing this term. Adam takes his show to many venues--do I see him calling these ladies vajayjay's on AI? I don't think that would be so good.
The label he gives these ladies will stand alone without context and opinions will be formed without knowing Adam or his artistry. Whereas Adam may be ultra provocative on stage, his acting out sexual acts always fits the moment and the music. He can get ultra dirty with his microphone during a deep and dirty rendition of WLL but that wouldn't translate the same if he were to be titled "masturbator" during a morning show interview.
And there is a big difference between us talking about the GB among others who are fans, verses the message Adam is projecting to the general public.
Just a small point here that we in the bubble of hard core fan world may be forgetting. Adam did not introduce the band during the televised portion of the show. Only three of the songs were filmed professionally and were on media websites, NCOE, Trespassing and Hollywood Reporter posted Naked Love. The band was introduced at the very end of Cuckoo and the only people who are seeing it for the most part are already invested fans. It may well be that he never uses the term again or he may only use it at live performances.
But here is the thing, although Adam does want mainstream success he seems to have a pretty good grasp on how much he wants to edit or change himself to do that. For the most part people who are not willing to look deeper aren't going to and too much polishing of the image becomes a trap and puts you in danger of loosing yourself to the "public image". Adam has said several times in recent interviews that "at the moment" he is drawn to simpler more comfortable fashion but he also has said that is not to say that he isn't still left of center in his choices.
Believe it or not he will probably actually loose some fans too with this change of direction because I have seen comments that people think he is chickening out by not being so flamboyant anymore. There are some who now think he is boring. No matter what he does he runs the risks of loosing fans or not getting through to new ones so his best bet is still the be himself and let the chips fall where they may. From the very beginning he has said he is going to be him and if people don't like it they can buy someone else' record.
Excellent points rihannsupf . Excellent.
