Nope - May Day marches - Immigration rights, labor unions and Occupy - messed up downtown all day. Awww, sorry to hear that, but thanks for the info. hahaha - maybe they used it for background - didn't bother my world, fortunately. I no longer work downtown - selfish, I know, but retirement has some benefits. ;D

Since we've discussed today how many times posts/posters are appreciated but unmentioned I thought I'd say that I am excited every time I see you've posted, burrito, and can't wait to see what you've written. It's awesome to get to read opinions of international peeps--but to get to read those of a burrito is sumpin' special! Sheesh! Thank you for saying that! I actually try my hardest to abide by ATOP rule #3 which is" "strive to be funny, entertaining and informative when you post." I fail at informative but the funny and entertaining is within reach.

Guys, at this point I'm just deleting posts that violate the rule I just reminded people about. Please save yourselves the trouble of typing it all out, k?

(oh, dear - y'know, there's a whole conversation that can be had on the word "thug," too . . .) what a day! offense taken at male nail polish color being judged offense taken at that offense being expressed too harshly offense at gb discussion offense at Adam using the word "vajayjay" offense at "gay" being used to describe a sense of humor offense at "pearl clutcher" did I miss anything? I have lived a long life, and most of the "stuff" we talk about is meaningless to me. "We are not promised tomorrow" so I just try to find today the good music, the good food, the funny people, the kind people, people who understand that we are leaving all these problems and differences behind someday. I doubt we will ever solve all the problems of the human condition. I am over taking much of anything seriously. I just want to love, laugh and be happy at this point in my life. I wish I could take some of you more seriously. Fifty years ago I would be in there raging with the best of you. Please, please don't ask me to give up the GB. I am a hetero woman married for 46 years. I have to love the penis. My husband would be out the door if I stopped loving his penis. If you know anything about men, you know that is their favorite body part. Everytime someone says they are offended over the GB, I begin to wonder about their lives. Are they married to a man? If not, they might be offended. They don't like men so they might be offended. I understand that. But don't take the fun away from those of us who love all of Adam. His hands, his lips, his eyes, his legs, his hair, his armpits, his smile, his teeth. His butt, his feet, his boots, his jackets, his boyfriend. Have I left anything out? Let's just keep loving Adam, his principles, his character, his courage, his humor, his voice, his music, his dancing, his strutting. Nothing else really matters here, does it? Slow, grateful clap, Irish. Love your thoughts.

Here's a novel idea. The girls are on twitter and obviously freely engage with the fans. Why don't those of you who are concerned about the nickname simply ask them how they feel about it? The intent behind the words is much more powerful than the word itself. When we remove all context from around the words we are deliberately sabotaging communication. Bullies often use the excuse that they are only teasing but the difference between teasing and bullying is often not in the words themselves but the intent and context of the words. In dog obedience classes one of the demonstrations that trainers often do involves cussing your dog out using but in the sweetest most saccharine tones. Every one laughs because the dogs reacts with joy and love but then the trainer uses loving words with harsh negative tones and the dogs cringe. People in reality often react the same way. Being from the South I have experienced being dressed down and totally humiliated by people using perfectly acceptable even complimentary words yet delivered with the utmost contempt. It was not the words themselves that hurt me. I have also been with groups of people who use language the is considered derogatory and insulting but the atmosphere and deliverance are of acceptance, love and unity. As Adam is trying to say in Broken English the words are only the "tip of the iceberg" and there is a lot of communication that is not only possible but in some ways much clearer when you look beyond the words. Beautifully said...jointly with that concept I agree on body language. And as Adam IMO also brings to that song--when there are no words, there is body language, feelings and magic. I love what you say here Rihannsu. The intent behind any words or actions is the key for me. The intent. Public figures such as Adam learn to be discreet because the intent is lost and the words are quoted. Its sad in a way, tut there is a limit how open we can be in many forums. Adam's a great "connecting" person so I imagine its not always easy for him to keep this in mind!
