Ohhh so late with this, but I'm liking the new snippets, but Nirvana sounds the best to me, of that new batch. But I have to say that I'm glad he hooked up with Pharrel and Sauli and changed his sound around. Take Back and Runnin sounds more pop-rockish to my ears, in the same vein as WWFM, and I hated WWFM, so I'm glad with the he went with the new direction and sound. Although I define myself as a rock fan (very heavy rock and metal even), I am also glad that Adam went more electro-funkish-pop rather than pop-rock. Shady, Kickin' in, TP, Cuckoo, even live NL, sound amazing and fresh, the two more rockish snippets we got today no so much. I am glad Adam steered away from the WWFM vibe. The rock fan in me is going to be entirely satisfied when Adam goes RAWK GOD on tour! ;D

So far, except for one (& I can't remember who) all the Idols have performed first. Carrie went between the 2 Coldplay numbers which seemed to be prerecorded. I loved her dress but not the song so much, yet the judges stood up for her. Hmmmm The dress and the stuff blowing behind her were...nice. I think the song was about an abusive drunk father, who the daughter left on the couch to be blown away by a tornado. I couldn't really hear the words during the low notes, so some of the lyrics were non-understandable. The three stooges stand up for the most illogical things! I expect all three of them to stay seated on their asses and do the golf clap for Adam and Steven will look confused! : It won't matter! Adam will be the best thing to hit that stage this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey Jlo- we got THE BEST SINGER in the past fifty years (reference to her comment last night) coming at you on May 17th! Better be prepared to really be BLOWN AWAY!!!!!

Nirvana sounds just gorgeous. Yes, so so pretty. Just based off the snippets I think it might be my favorite on the album, when initially all the light songs were at first. So hmm, I wonder how my feelings will change when we hear the whole album in full.

The snippits are pitifully short and really hard to judge from, but I love Nirvana from what I've heard, for sure. Need to hear more of the others. But they sound significantly different than the main album tracks. BRB sending flowers to Pharrell... Along with a champagne bottle, lol. Yeah it is hard to judge with just 30sec snippets, but production for Take Back/Runnin so far is so much do not want for me. Reminds me of that Get Over It snippet awhile ago, that I was completely meh about.

Read this on Nile Rodgers Blog - Cancer is horrifying. It makes you think a lot. My ex-partner passed away and most people don’t realize many songs they sing along with every day he did. Were they a couple? #Bernard #confused

Bernard Edwards was a producer and bass-player and a member of "Chic". He died in 1996. I think Nile was/is (?) married to his wife Nancy Hunt. Here is an older photo of the two. www.zimbio.com/pictures/e6DIavEo-K-/Family+Fifth+Annual+Celebration+Gala/T0UcVtkuxFx/Nile+Rodgers

Wouldn't it be great if American men could show friendship for each other in such a loving, uninhibited ,free way with out fear of being labeled . melliemom, I don't know if you like history, but once upon a time American men did share very intense friendships without fear of censure. Back in early America, sex was almost never talked about, and many people in polite society didn’t even know that gays existed. This actually freed people to have close friendships in a way that we have not had since sex began to come out into the open (around the time of the Depression). You can read a lot about this in Doris Kearns Goodwin's book Team of Rivals about Abraham Lincoln and his associates. It's meant a genuine impoverishment of the emotional life of American men.
