Wouldn't it be great if American men could show friendship for each other in such a loving, uninhibited ,free way with out fear of being labeled . melliemom, I don't know if you like history, but once upon a time American men did share very intense friendships without fear of censure. Back in early America, sex was almost never talked about, and many people in polite society didn’t even know that gays existed. This actually freed people to have close friendships in a way that we have not had since sex began to come out into the open (around the time of the Depression). You can read a lot about this in Doris Kearns Goodwin's book Team of Rivals about Abraham Lincoln and his associates. It's meant a genuine impoverishment of the emotional life of American men. Thank you Juniemoon ,good to know. I actually have the book,I will give it a read.
