I LIKE what you say about trying to show that it doesnt matter to us. But I do think if you arent part of an attacked minority you cant really understand what they go through. So why not give them some space to be a bit pained and not see our good intentions every time. We who dont have to deal with the daily BS they deal with are so privileged. These wounds go deep. That said, im not saying we shouldnt explain our intentions - just that our hurt at being misunderstood is nothing compared to theirs. This is killing me and I have to comment , so please SCROLLanjalee have none of us been a woman in a man's world or fat in a skinny world or old in a young world or black in a white world or muslim in a christian world. Empathy does not require that we be gay in a straight world to understand, only that we reach out and share the experience so that we can understand each other. No one gets a pass on that. That is exactly what I was feeling lindag23. TY

More thoughts: I love that Adam put all the dance songs together instead of breaking that mood with the slower ones. Then we get to be all moody in the 2nd half!! This man is even more talented and brilliant than we already "knew' he was! How is that even possible! And this is only his 2nd album!!!!!!!! Love the Robert Marvin productions! RUNNIN=OMFG!!!!!! The Cuckoo clip does not do that song justice! Why didn't "rate the music" have the best parts for fan review?! Grrrr!!! The endings on almost every song are incredible! His voice, his voice!!! Gah!!!!!!! ITA.. Listening to the MUSIC, the LYRICS and the PRODUCTION of Trespassing especially SONGS he wrote, this production only shows how GENIUS ADAM IS. Just like Kanadie said upthread... this album's not on the level of Thriller yet.. but Adam is going there.

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is excellent, but......................... It makes NO sense that BTIKM has been pulled from most of the radio stations! I wouldn't be surprised if that song sticks around for awhile...radio or no radio. I have great faith in the longevity of BTIKM. I might be alone but I'm still cheering it on! You're not alone, I'm here with you I'm not aware of the situation elsewhere but in Central Europe BTIKM is still doing very well ETA: I'm totally exhausted :-[ Though today was beautiful. Thank you all for that. Good night

I think this is very well said, nonchallance. It is tricky. You see the problem in movies when they're trying to depict minorities. If the minority character has flaws, some in the community will complain that the movie is trying to say that all members of that minority have that particular flaw. So the movies respond by making the minority character practically perfect (as with Sidney Poitier's character in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner), and some in the community wonder why they can't be portrayed as three-dimensional people. Even members of a minority themselves don't agree on the right way to achieve their aims or even what their aims should be. For every person who believes that the ultimate goal should be to blend into the rest of society, there is another who believes that attitude is offensive. As I said, it's tricky, and we're all stumbling through this together as best we can. I see the point being made by all parties here but I have one bone to pick with the original post. When we went to the blogger's site and commented we went in a misguided attempt to be supportive and thankful. It seems we went about it the wrong way and incurred the wrath of some readers. But we went there with good intentions.
When the poster came here, they came to berate us! We did not show enough deference to the gay experience yet this person came to a forum dedicated to an artist they referred to as frothy and lightweight, and made no attempt to recognize our interest in the blog post. Furthermore, they tried to lean on the weight of the Village Voice when in fact, it was not in that publication at all.
Good can only come of conversations that two well meaning parties take part in. I could be wrong but it looks to me like that other person just 'joined' us so they could dump on us....no comments on the merits of Trespassing. I guess you could call me an Aristotelian as I believe intentions are important.
Adam would NOT, in my opinion, want to be purchased by the gay community IN SPITE of being just pop froth and drivel. That would insult everything he stands for. JMHOThe poster is an Adam fan, not the author of the blog. They are one of us (part of the 'we'). I for sure don't feel dumped on, I feel only 'thank god, it can't be said enough times'. The comments on the Village Voice article (last I checked which was awhile ago) weren't egregious, but a small handful of glamberts have many, many times in the past gone to post in the comments of gay media 'berating' the community and or/the article author for not supporting Adam in the way that they (the commentator who was not part of the community) saw fit. I find it perfectly understandable that having been burned in the past, and knowing how important the Village Voice is, (and it is VERY important, even if the article doesn't make it into the print version), the poster wanted to give up a heads up caution to as many parts of fandom as they could. I'm very glad they posted here. Dialogue is great, and right here is a great place to have it. If the article's idea goes viral, and I think like Jamie that we should do all we can to make that happen, it would be an incredible benefit for Adam as an individual, as well as breaking down barriers and showing the purchasing power of lgbt people and supporters.

Does anyone have a link where we can just listen to the music without downloading it? Thanks in advance if you'd PM it to me if you have it. Sent you a PM.
