That said, I also think it's a mistake to go into the music business these days thinking you're going to make money of the sales of albums and DVDs. So the real question here becomes: Does this practice make sense for Adam right now? I think it does. Here's why:

1) Adam has shown that he has a sizable core audience that wants to spend money on him. And they don't just spend money so they can own his products. Some of them take what I call an "activist" approach to their purchases: They spend their money with the specific intent of supporting Adam, whether it's to help him reach a sales goal or to give to a charity that he recommends. So those fans are going to buy the new product no matter how much is available for free. You could post all of "Glam Nation Live" on Vevo and air it on cable five nights a week, and they'd still buy the DVD.

2) As big a deal as Adam is within the Idol world, he's still an emerging artist in the grand scheme of things. There are more potential music buyers who don't listen to his music than there are that do. And there are a lot of people who, even if they paid attention to Idol. don't really know what he's been up to since then. But Adam's team has learned that if you make somebody an Adam Lambert fan, chances are good they'll be a fan with their pocketbook or their wallet. So the trick is making potential fans aware and getting them converted. Free product makes that much easier. And since there are fan-made videos of pretty much all of his performances online anyway, why not give people the high-quality version to make the case? I'd think it'd be much easier to be wowed by a multi-camera, professionally edited video clip than it would be something shot on a Flip video camera from Row M.

If you know somebody's going to be a flash in the pan, it makes squeezing out every short-term dollar more important. But if you're dealing with somebody you expect to be around for the long haul, you can afford to give away more, because you know you're going to make it up on the back end. In other words, if somebody doesn't buy the DVD now, but they do buy a concert ticket and a T-shirt next year, then Adam's team is still ahead of the game.

Doubt that Adam is alone, but he is not with his Alisan group of friends.

It means this is her last album, per her RCA contract, and they are being shitheads by delaying its release. They know she wants to leave them for her next albums. :(

I really like rabbitrabbit's list. I would be happy with any one of them.

MWP, I know that not everyone here is enthusiastic about Rihanna, but I like her. She's got the drive, the attitude and the 'sex is not the enemy' message that would mesh with Adam really well. I also like her voice and her songs have great hooks. Another thing I like about her that her songs are clearly meant for adults and have more complex - even darker themes. She is also current and gets radio play.

I also like the Scissor Sisters. A collaboration with them would be fun.
