I've never been so embarrassed to be a North Carolinian. This amendment is so harmful to so many people, not jus those in the LBGT community. It has bee very eye-opening for me, however, to see the positions on this issue taken by some of my friends, by my church, etc. If anything, it goes to show that, despite arguments to the contrary just this week on other sites, the prejudice and barriers that Adam faces as an out musician are very much real and very much substantial.
As others have said, I'm so happy to hear all the positive album reviews and even happier to hear this amazing music. And I'm happy to have this place with it's wonderful openness and diversity of views. And most of all I'm happy to have Adam Lambert. I truly believe that he is extraordinary and that he has the talent to break down barriers help bring us to a better place. Sadly, it just won't be today. At least not in North Carolina.

NC vote was expected but depressing. Too bad the turnout was lower in the urban progressive areas vs. the rural areas. But gay rights votes in US are now 31 NO to 1 YES. So not special for NC.
Things are changing but not fast enough.

At first the 'outsider' comment in the RS interview made me sad, But then I realized that that makes him more fan appealing to me. And who are these "cool kids" anyway???? I think they're the kids without zits, looking good and with braceless teeth and a desire to be blond and buff and perfect; and their desire is not art, but in creating the image of art. In the 'real world', they find the directors' couches; the 'in crowd'; the men seeking trophies; the status of material appearances. Sure, I generalize. But it really is just like high school - just on a 'higher plane'. They know (in my opinion) how fucking fake this is. Why would they want to be with Adam - the real deal, the real talent, the real beauty - who will accentuate, by his mere presence, the fleeting and fragile construct of their fame? It's really worth a sardonic smile - the way we perpetuate the classes and the emotions and the insecurities of our youth. Adam may own the world - and he will - but he may always wonder "if Brittany will recognize him". I hope, someday, we all move past these generalizations. Me, included.

Sorry guys I have you beat :-/, I live in AZ. No worries though :D.......I don't care who will not be my friend if I SPEAK OUT ;D I keep hitting "Runnin" on replay so I can envision one very special UK BERT with goosebumps all over and shivers up his spine.............. we have this in common! The NJ Governor's speech about the ridiculousness of a majority voting on the rights for a minority, should be required viewing for every voter in every state! Where can I hear this/truth speech??? Friend.......why??????? NO ONE IS BETTERER THAN ANOTHER! I wish you were still "TEACHING" our younger generation. You would have THE VISION AND IMPACT ON THE NEXT GENERATION to make it BETTERER! Wishing you had not retired, but, so happy you did, more first hand recaps

I now amazingly spend my days on a university campus -- and I have learned that the high school cool kids are no longer "cool". Maybe Adam will someday learn that in the end the people with talent -- artists and nerds -- win.

The NJ Governor's speech about the ridiculousness of a majority voting on the rights for a minority, should be required viewing for every voter in every state! Closed minds don't hear logic. Sometimes you have to hit them upside the head to get their attention, then maybe .... And I know some really good people in AZ - just wish there were more of them. Ditto!

Sometimes, though, our own insecurities make us think others don't want to be with us, while they are thinking the same thing. When Adam attended the Oscar party, he found himself at the same table with Brittany, but didn't make the first move to introduce himself, apparently feeling insecure. They did not speak to each other. He mentioned this to Shoshanna, who told him that Brittany had told her exactly the same thing! Shoshanna represents them both in UK. My guess is that a lot of these A listers feel insecure, too - just like they probably did in high school...

The Rolling Stone 4 star rating for Trespassing makes me feel so quietly happy on an otherwise very disappointing day in North Carolina. The passage of an amendment that defines marriage as between a man and a woman effects not only the LBTG community but also domestic partners, and single parents. It was voted down in huge numbers in the metro areas but got heavy support in the rural areas. It can't stand. OK - enough of being a downer. Back to the party and berting for AFL. Queen/Lambert tickets have arrived! On North Carolina vote: Republicans/church members banking telephone calls to voters were saying that if you didn't vote for the amendment you would go to hell. I kid you not..I did phone banking to defeat the amendment,so we knew about the calls. There is also talk about some voter Fraud in some large Democratic areas where 18 year olds were not given a ballot with the amendment on it,so they could not vote against it. Lots of real hate here in North Carolina. But also lots of new support ,some of it coming from past bigoted church members and even some moderate republicans .There is also a large and cohesive grassroots movement going on in some of the larger towns, like Asheville and Charlotte. Gay couples will continue to say' I do' as part of a grassroots campaign across the state ,asking for permission to marry, to put a face on what gay couples with families look like. To know them as our teachers, firemen ,policemen& women, sons daughters, etc. The conservatives won the battle but we will eventually win the war.The tide is just starting to turn& Many knew we couldn't win this battle now, because of the Republican majority in the state Congress and because of the conservative folks in the rural areas. However there is much more support now for equality in NC than before. To add, there are those who are willing to go the passive resistance route and to go to jail. A couple I know, have been arrested for sit ins..
