I'm out at mtgs so forgive typos plz as I've grabbed the iPad of my friend. Wanted to say hey to fellow Nashvillian! (not currently but for many yrs) and fellow Sheffield fan for exact same reasons as yours. Welcome - please stay and play! Hi, Mika! Oh, I'll be sticking around, lol. I have about three years' worth of lurking and dying to comment (including that time when I didnt get in the Nashville m&g earlier this year but was instead at my son's doctor's appointment on the same street on Music Row, a half block away! Well, the hell with them. They still don't play Adam and the station sucks--but I'm forced to listen with a tweener daughter. Hmmm, I think I'll have HER request NCOE--and One Direction, I'm sure). And I'm sure someone has mentioned that Sheffield was only one who wrote a column that praised AMA performance as a true rock and roll moment. I've always loved outrageous behavior (starting with Bowie, Lou Reed, and Iggy Pop in the 70s). The worst thing to me about the performance was that it was not good vocally. And now that I've heard hundreds of stellar vocal performances, I know how rare and unfortunate that was. Now to work on that avi . . .

EW thing wasn't as bad as I expected from some of the reactions here. Just ignorance and bad attempts at jokes. Nothing really homophobic...

The only way I can look at the EW review is how it would go over if you replace all the gay comments with comments about being afro american, jewish, or any other group that has been treated like second class citizens. The shit would certainly hit the fan then, so this is no different! SADS!!! :( Exactly! I'm outraged! Emailed EW, tweeted AND reported the "review" to GLAAD. What else can I do?? *paces in an annoyed manner* (I agree with Bridget though....this woman is trying to be cute, she'll eventually respond with "some of my best friends are gay" drivel.) edit/ nationalglampoon dunno...that last sentence was pretty bad. You don't have legit feelings - just wash the make-up off your face and all's good. This review had nothing to do with the music.

Couldn't really feel Take Back or its lyrics until right now. Floodgates have opened I know, it sneaks up on you, doesn't it? Yeah, "I would give anything just to chase the dark away and start all over again" is just such a direct, heartbreaking, honest lyric. Hits me deeep! Edit: durberville I think that falls under "bad attempts at jokes" or just a reference to how overly theatrical they felt some of the ballads were which is a valid opinion.

Here's the thing. EW could have written a real review of Adam, not full of homophobic snark, and while we might not have agreed with it, we might have at least had some respect for an opinion given in a professional manner. This review is not professional. It's bullshit, bullying and cruel, whether it's because he is gay or he came off Idol. Either way, it comes off as demeaning and prejudicial. If anything, now that they have attracted so much attention to themselves by being homophobic doucehbags, the album will get more attention, not less. Backfire and backlash

If this review was flipped and was about a black artist.. talking about black music for black people and fried chicken (and whatever lame stereotype they could come up with), people would make this national news (and rightly so). That kind of talk just doesn't fly here. It would be considered offensive and the NAACP would be on my evening news.
