If Adam knocks it out of the park on Idol tomorrow, I think HDD may need to adjust. Digital sales in the US was Adam's weak sales channel for FYE. It may be that iTunes sales are just down this week but Trespassing has been holding #1 for over 2 days now and that is much better than FYE did. HDD had to adjust their forecast for FYE down. They started out with a 225K estimate and then dropped it on Friday of release week. They are usually very good at forecasting but they were off on Adam last time. I am hoping they are off this time. <fingers and toes crossed> FYE had two strikes against it out of the box. The AMA reaction and that album cover. This time the presentation is OMG jawdrop vs OMG WTF. The FYE cover blended in, hard to do I know, but it wasn't eye catching when you scanned small photos. The bonus tracks are part of the reason the deluxe is up top but I bet there's a large percentage of buyers drooling on their keyboards too. Regarding Thursday's performance. My marketing degree tells me they should use some of the music vid shots as part of the backdrop/screens for his performance. Get some anticipation for it dropping next week as well and maybe a Seacrest question about the images. |

I came here from twitter to post that People had given TP four stars out of 4! But someone had beat me to it. I have to say this is great. I think People reaches more readers than its corporate relative, EW. So this should cancel out the effect of the EW crap.
I went to Walmart today to pick up a TP. The store wasn't sold out. But the stock looked picked over.
What was there was mostly the regular edition, with two deluxe. One deluxe after I took mine to the checkout. It concerns me that Adam may lose sales this week because stores underestimated him and understocked.

Weren't they off on Carrie's prediction this year? They started lower and then readjusted her higher later in the week, correct? Maybe the Idol performance boosted her higher (although her performance was just ok) and it will boost Adam higher than expected also. Here's hoping. This was the Wednesday HDD prediction for Carrie's first week sales: Carrie Underwood’s poised for a #1 debut. Her new19/RCA Nashville album, Blown Away, will top next week’s chart with estimates of between 275-295k, according to one-day sales reports from retailers busy packing their bags for next week’s NARM convention in L.A. She ended up selling 267,000. |

The Regular Edition is getting ready to crack the Top 20 on Amazon. It just moved to #21! Combine that with the Deluxe at #3, he is doing very well preIdol on Amazon!!! |

Reposting this again over here. This is probably already answered, but am I seeing this right? I was like wow, I wanted him to be closer to the end, more of a headliner. But I'm seeing that, other then Wallpaper and Flo Rida, Adam has the longest time slot, at 35 minutes. Wallpaper is 40 minutes and Flo Rida is 35 minutes as well. Everyone else either have 20-25 minutes at the most. I guess Adam is the headliner for the first half. I'm stoked ;D |

HDD uses both digital and physical sales from a few retailers, industry sources and info from labels to forecast. Billboard is forecast both Adele and Carrie at 65K - 75K. I think Adam will beat that and come in north of 80K. My forecast is a lot higher than rational (posted in the numbers thread before release date) and I am sure y'all hope I am right!! I am banking on Idol changing the sales curve. I don't know, maybe I have been in LaLa land for too long, but I would say Idol has to account for at least 20,000 purchases! Add that to the prediction of 80,000 and we get 100,000. I am still saying over 100,000. Dream big, right! Oh, and they did the hometown visits tonight so what on earth will they fill the show up with tomorrow?! Could the rumor about 2 songs from Adam be true? If it is and he gets to sing NCOE and Trespassing, then the HDD prediction will be way off! Not that I know, but wouldn't they have already factored idol into their projections? and Carrie being on DWTS too? |

On itunes, the Regular one has been dropping little by little, last I checked was at # 81 Overall, nice to hear that it's doing the opposite at Amazon. But, yay for NO. 1 for the Deluxe!! Let's hope the glory continues!! |
