It took a week, but I finally caught up on concert videos, the "Making of Trespassing", the threads. Whew!
I just watched a few of the iHeart concert videos and want to thank 4Msrmyn for tirelessly cataloging all of these links and downloads. I love the live performances so much that I downloaded the audio files she had link to. THANK YOU!
I'm not much into the dance-club songs, but the live performances actually get me nodding my head. I think there are several reasons, including that the incessant bass drum on each beat isn't so loud. Plus there is some really tasty guitar work, especially and jazzy little solo toward the end of Cuckoo where they repeat "gonna lose my mind." For me, there is just more detail to listen to.

At a basic level it is a song about sexual abandon [Get up and feel the night], but it could also be interpreted as being about revealing oneself honestly and without cover. Now add in a few clothing references -- and you have a very clever song that is fun and yet has some real meaning. I think this song will eventually be a single and it deserves to be a hit. Naked Love is awesome on the album and even better live, and judging by crowd response yesterday, it is a fast favorite even on first listen. I'm sure Adam and his people are gauging crowd reaction to songs and this may factor into single choice down the road. I thought it was telling that Adam intro'd NL using the "revealing yourself honestly" PG interpretation. Smart. |
