Since RCA was "terrified" of Trespassing (as a single) I want it to SMASH EVEN MORE THAN I DID BEFORE! OMG that would be a delicious revenge! Second of course to the joy of Adam having a huge hit single. That would be the fairytale ending. Why can't it happen!!!

Really disappointed. They can't even get him Jingle Balls----and I know, I know, it's radio and he isn't exactly a radio staple... But it is still disappointing. Something has to happen to change the trajectory. I just don't know what. Jingle Balls are really a playback for play. He ain't getting no play. Still good publicity IMO. He won that Q102 JB poll, which apparently was meaningless. Which I already knew. :

Homophobia isn't the problem, at least not in my opinion. Being off AI is. The stigma from these reality shows is only getting worse. Only Carrie and Kelly have been totally accepted by radio and the mainstream. And, probably Jennifer Hudson, because winning an Oscar will do that for you. I do think it is possible that by as early as March last year, RCA knew that radio wasn't going to happen this era. I think NCOE was a last ditch effort to court radio by bringing Bruno in. And it didn't help. Maybe they decided not to pour a whole lot of money into something that wasn't ready to happen at this point in Adam's career. Unpopular opinion, I know, but I would scrap any idea of a "Tresspassing" tour. That just puts Adam further under the radar for too long. Instead, do some one-offs and then actively get Adam engaged in other opportunities that give him exposure. Because before they even think about an third album they need a new strategy. Maybe they should focus efforts on getting Adam a "feature" spot in a collaboration (worked wonders for Sia). How about Guetta? Is he insanely expensive? Radio it seems has played everything Guetta has released. Radio spun both wwfm and iihy after the amas, so I agree homophobia is not the reason why he's not being played. Adam's statement that the label is "terrified" of tsp terrified me ??? rca must have known by March that btikm wouldn't hit, yet they didn't switch to a song already on the album. They chose to wait for ncoe instead, even when it meant saddling Adam for months with a song that was going nowhere and leaving the album without a single to sell it. Was rca leery about the songs on the album all along? Will rca support a song it's terrified of? If label support is minimal, can tsp make it? What does radio want?

The fact that rca apparently thought there was no other worthy single on the entire album & therefore held the release up for the BM castoff really pierces my soul.

I don't think they thought there was no other worthy single on the album---just that there was no other "radio single" worthy song on the album. This is going to make the process for album #3 very interesting to say the least. I hope that Adam and RCA can get to a point where they are both on the same page. I wonder if Adam will have to relinquish some creative control? Will he be ok doing this?

That's exactly what I should have written :-[ Also, that was a dark thread wild guess. I've no idea if that's why they waited so long after btikm.

This era cannot be over - it's far too soon. It seems like yesterday that I saw his fabulous performance in Wilkes Barre. He was so ON that night & so happy because TSP had just debuted at #1! We all cheered when he announced it. It was a great night. And then..............

Sounds like it's not a matter of whether fans want this era to be over or not, it's what is reality.
As much as I would love a TP tour, I don't see how that benefits Adam. Artists have to front the money for a tour, not the label. I don't want to see Adam go broke trying to finance a tour just to pacify a segment of his fanbase. I mean, think about it. Going on tour for 6 months, then being so tired afterwards causing him to take so much time off after the tour, along with working on the album for a year and a half. That set him up for failure with radio this era, being away so long. Bruno Mars is even getting his second album out faster than Adam did, about 6 months faster. But at least, he had enough hits to maintain radio airplay in the meantime, along with collaborations with other artists. The only artists who can afford to stay away that long now are much more established than Adam. That Glamnation tour should have been 2-3 months at the most, take a few months off then get back in the studio. Album should have been out last fall, as was originally planned, not almost a year later. I think Adam was just exhausted after that Glamnation tour. He shouldn't make that mistake again cause he has paid dearly for it this era. The set-up should have been for the big tour for Trespassing, not Glamnation.
