HaHa. We all know what he should do - what's best for his future career. Unfortunately we all have different ideas. So I'm admitting: I HAVE NO CLUE. I'm still dumbstruck with how this era evolved. I can only rant about how it was handled by the suits. I have no idea what they should do, only what they shouldn't have done. Hopefully the feedback from his PLL appearance will make them sit up and take notice and realize that if he's seen and heard people will come! True, we all have our own ideas of what Adam should do, and it's all equally pointless. However, this is the dark thread, so here is another: Why choose Trespassing over Cuckoo as the third single when they knew PLL, his sole major US appearance in months, would showcase Cuckoo instead of Trespassing? Of course the show gave a boost to Cuckoo instead of the single He should have more such appearances. He is professional, polite, pretty, smart, can sing, can act, and his fans are super active on social media. PLL got a lot of visibility out of having him. Very few others can offer all that.

I pretty much agree with what you said. And I was on the Cuckoo train from day one. I always thought it would be the best radio single - it's fun & catchy - and he wrote it! But I started questioning my opinions because I am not the demographic for Top 40 radio. So what the hell would I know??? ;D

Trespassing is accessible, but sounds a bit different, a bit dated. Cuckoo seems more contemporary, but less immediately appealing. They're both great songs. What I don't understand is choosing Tsp over Cuckoo when they must have known PLL would feature Cuckoo, and PLL is, literally, the only major US appearance he's had since Idol. I don't get this entire era, from the delays to btikm (WHY?) to ncoe's mysterious demise on radio (WHY?) to the choice of tsp.

I think Adam chose Trespassing cause he already knew that the label was not going to throw their support behind any single and it was more of a statement. I know that's a lot of speculation on my part but probably closest to how he feels right now.
I think it's pretty apparent why none of the previous singles have worked. RCA hasn't had any confidence in this album, as far as radio singles anyway. I've always taken anything they say as far as support with a grain of salt. That Billboard interview where they said "We have an album full of singles." We now know that was basically a load of bullshit, according to Adam himself recently. He said they were "terrified of Trespassing." Obvious by their choice of singles and their complete lack of promo. If they were so confident about the album, they would have done a better job of getting it exposure. A TV performance at 8 AM and another at 1 AM the week of album release, with one primetime performance on Idol? That was it. Might as well say he got one performance that even counted for anything. I've seen Alanis Morissette performing on more TV programs for her album release than Adam. Alanis Morissette hasn't exactly been relevant in years, but her management can get her better bookings than Adam? It's pretty obvious what's going on and Adam needs to start putting his foot down with his management at the very least. I think the label is a lost cause at this point, but his management? They're supposed to be working for him, and they're not.

Something that's frustrating - lots of tweets from people (& some casual fans) who saw him on PLL and DIDN'T KNOW HE HAD AN ALBUM OUT. What does that tell you about promo this era?

They're supposed to be working for him, and they're not. I think his management is doing a pretty good job. He was on PLL and the Voice of China both good gigs IMO. Also let's not forget that they got him pretty close to landing the best gig on American TV. If that had happened, RCA would have thrown in some big promo bucks. That didn't happen, and time to move on and do the best we can with this single.

I am very surprised and disappointed that The Remixes did not chart on BB200. This must be a lot smaller fan base than I thought. 150 only sold about 3,000 so the remixes had to sell a lot less than that. That would have taken just 1000 fans buying one each from OA, Amazon and Google Play to get 3,000 in sales. We even had a gifting thing going on. What in the world happened?

That is very hard to understand! Especially since many fans bought multiple copies. When you consider the gifting campaign it is really odd. But the ones from AO don't count until they're shipped - so won't be til Nov. And the DL's from AO were free so they don't count either. Also - many fans didn't complete the album on iTunes. I don't get it - just searching for reasons.

I know I bought 3 and gifted 2 eps to my kids which makes me worth 5 people. I am certain that many fans made multiple purchases. It is a true mystery. I don't believe that it sold less than 2,000 because that would mean just 500 fans buying 4 eps or 1,000 fans buying 2 for example. We may not be a huge fan base but judging by our power in online polls we are big enough and determined enough to push things and the ep release is no exception.

First we were told to concentrate on the ep. Then we were told that Adam's people wanted us to buy the remixes without completing the ep. Then we were told to buy the ep, and to forget about remixes. Also, thanks to lack of promotion, dedicated fans alone know that Adam has an ep out. Many casual fans didn't even know that Adam had a new ALBUM out until they watched PLL. Clusterfuck.
