He is one of the most important figures in the LGBT movement today.
This is the spot to post things a little politically incorrect so here goes. It is obvious that the LGBT community is not supporting him in any great numbers. This is a huge community and if even 5% of it supported him, he would not have a sales problem. What the reason is for this lack of support I can't fathom, but it is true that his main fan base is straight women many from his AI days. Adam has expressed frustration about this lack of support also. I think it is hurtful to him especially since he has expressed that he wrote Trespassing for his gay brothers and sisters.

I have been so frustrated by this .. Even if Adam isn't their favorite singer, buying a single like NCOE or Trespassing to show their support is so important. If Adam succeeds as a gay man in the radio/record business, he makes it so much easier for other LGBT talent to make it in the music industry. In supporting Adam they are supporting themselves and equality.I do think that the lesbian community has been supportive of Adam and also the gay magazines have featured him time and time again. It seems to be gay men that are most resistant to showing Adam their love and support, bit of unrequited love going on there.

I got a kick out of Adam's tweets to @ladygaga. "I'm Pop's dirty little secret." Clever. I could not wait to log on here and see the discussion, but nothing. I know there is a lot of news with the Queen and UK charts. Didn't want to say anything in the news thread.

@luzrnaz...
He is self aware & insightful re "Pop's dirty little secret"... we all have it, love and sometimes lust after it, but we seldom, if ever, admit to ourselves or others about it.
Let's hope the secret gets out someday soon...

Well, here's my take, nica575.
Lady Gaga tweeted that she was "Pop's [pop music's] Wife. Credit Card stealing, too much drinking, borrowing his car without asking, driving him crazy till his last breath."
She's "Pop's" wife, she's beloved, but I guess her metaphor emphasizes wildness, her unpredictability, the degree to which her "antics" might endear AND annoy "Pop," too.
Adam sees her tweet and offers a metaphor for one way of looking at HIS relationship with "Pop" (pop music): "oh yeah? I'm Pop's dirty little secret. Part of his double life. Ya know, when he's looking for some man on man."
I think it's pretty clever. I can just picture pop radio folks telling Adam PERSONALLY how much they love him - but they don't play him. He's kept on "the down low" maybe, in a way. ("On the down low" - male homosexual relationships that are kept secret.)
Something like that. Definitely an interesting tweet, however deep it may or may not be.

I do feel like an idiot as I need help understanding this tweet :-[ so, please help! I think for the most part it was just a cheeky tweet by Adam. But with a little subconscious message of not being accepted by the mainstream, hence "Pop's dirty little secret." ETA: Aaand...I just saw Bridget's post above. Looks like we're on the same page.

Rant Warning; I'm going to bring up a subject that is making my blood boil; Censorship of lyrics.
I don't really want to hear the f word on the radio so have no problem with it getting bleeped but the Clear channel who own most of the radio stations around here have taken that much further.
They started to bleep out the word 'sex' in Bruno's lazy song. When has 'sex' become profane language? Now my daughters just informed me that in the Fun song 'We are young' the word 'higher' is bleeped out in the line; My friends are in the bathroom getting higher than the Empire State. Those friends could be getting high on the joy of living, or Jesus or anything apart from drugs. Even if it was drugs so what? There's no profanity there. Songs about drug culture have been played on the radio for about 50 years so why does it have to be censored now?
This effects everyone in music and maybe even more so Adam as some reviewers have misinterpreted his lyrics. So far he has put out 2 squeaky clean songs which radio has refused to play so what hope is there for the songs Adam wrote?
I can just picture a pearl clutching matron from the FCC(who actually has a dirty mind) sifting through the lyrics of songs with a black marker deciding what is appropriate for me to hear. What next? Will she be able to do that in my Local Library?
The same Radio stations are hypocritical enough to allow adds for male enhancement drugs and Viagara. Apparently the word 'erection' is fine as long as someone is paying the radio station. Put it in a song and it would be another matter.
Is there any way to complain to radio stations about this? Who do I complain to?

I just noticed this "bleep" today on the station I listen to. My brain did a double take trying to think what word was so bad that it got bleeped and I had the same reaction as you.
