This is what I learned today at Walmart. If the item doesn't have a sticker on it and the chain is going to carry that album AND it contains questionable language, it's up to the department manager whether or not the store will carry that release.

Since I'm pretty tight with the music/movie department manager at the Walmart near me, he's already informed me that he WON'T be carrying "Trespassing" when it is released. Of course I had to do a little persuading but he was leaning that way as it was.

I have emailed you all the link to contact your local Walmarts to find out who their department manager is and how to contact them.

Queen has plenty of experience with homophobic radio bias as they experienced it first hand.
On the brink of conquering America their video for "I Want To Break Free" was banned from MTV and killed them dead in the water here.
They dressed in drag in a comic music video and were immediately put on the "not good for the children list" and virtually run out of the USA.
They never recovered here sales wise.

I am certain that radio play and homophobia has come up in the conversations with Queen and I am equally certain that their advice is for him to continue to do what he loves and let the chips fall where they may.

But then Queen's experience in all of this took place back when radio mattered and I don't think it does any more. As far as I can see radio is becoming increasingly irrelevant and they know it- hence the pathetic manner in which they handle themselves. They are a old boy's network of relics fighting and shaking their fists as they go down.

So with that in mind I am less and less concerned with radio as regards Adam. He's going to make it and he's going to make it big despite them.
The music world has changed and he's finding his way as he goes but I think that he's leading a new era and not following the methodology of the old.
That he is doing this by necessity due to radio's reluctance is of no importance whatsoever. He's building a brand via every avenue available to him- singing his material, singing Queen's material, fashion, gay rights, a judge-ship (fingers xx'd), and so on. When it all comes together (and it will) he will be a real star by anyone's criteria.

I will also add that I feel that part of the radio problem has to do with Adam's perceived image of this edgy, high fashion, scary gay person whose released material is by and large quite tame. WWFM was almost pablum it was so tame.

I think public perception is that he threatens but does not back up the threat, so to speak.
Waving the freak flag and going with it would have served him much better, IMO.

Swarm----I totally believe that a significant amount of posters on the Queen forum (and commenting on numerous Queen articles, etc.) are bitter AI haters who are simply posing as Queen fans to try to sabotage Adam. Some people are so jealous and bitter.

Really, I'm not crazy, lol. I think a lot of people are out there trolling. Adam takes the wrath of a whole lot of people---basically every other AI fanbase, as well as all the general nut cases out there. He really enrages people. And the Internet has provided haters and cowards with a way to lash out anonymously.

Right? Oh you're not crazy for realz. I've been saying for awhile now, no matter how much fans may request Adam with radio, we have no idea how many people are doing the same thing by complaining about him. We'll never know but it seems logical to me that radio would choose to go the no aggravation route.

The extent of these clowns is unbelievable. I just posted their organizing to go against him with Walmart and radio. Luckily on THIS thread it's only 5 people but still how many others are there? (rhetorical question LOL)

No surprise they also go to MJs.

Thank you for all that information about Queen in the US. I didn't know any of it.

Radio is losing viewers, but it's still powerful. Radio spins determine which pop songs sell. Sales are all for a pop star.

Adam wants to be a pop star. He is so far from wanting to be a freaky hipster niche act that he's said he'd be willing to go on idol.
Had they gone with fye, then followed it up with a boy on boy video, Adam could have been a successful niche act, or a complete failure. Success or failure, he would not be on any sort of path likely to lead to pop success, and it is pop success that HE wants.

My kids are at their Grandma's today, so I have WAY too much time...I checked out MJ's for the first time in a long time. When did it get so nasty there? Has it become a congregating spot for Worsters? Because it is just ugly, and aimed at Adam fans as much as at Adam himself. Just mocking and nasty and gloating. I know the mods and resident "experts" are all pretty anti-Adam, but what a free-for-all.

Honestly, if Adam does get the Idol thing I think the Idol bubble will implode.

I'd never argue against anything Adam has said he wants but disagree with the contention that being full out Zodiac Adam would have relegated him to niche-dom. No one knows what the results would have been. Hell, look at Gaga's act.
As far as radio- IMO the old models have to change in order to accommodate new technology and Adam's being forced to find alternative ways of being heard may seem an obstacle in the short term while turning out to be a blessing over the long haul.

Zodiac Adam was male, gay, into glam rock, and wanted flames shooting out of his head :wub: That's the definition of a niche artist.

Status quo is changing slowly. There is literally no viable alternative to radio today if the artist wants mainstream pop success.
