swarm - I printed your post so I can digest it thoroughly. Before I do that I'll just say two things: I'm a strong Obama supporter but his failure to stand up & be counted re marriage equality has been a huge disappointment. Politics before courage to do the right thing. What else is new. And regarding Brad Paisley there is this: By Michael Hulshof-Schmidt Founder / Executive Director at EqualityWorks,NW Portland, Oregon Area Education Management "Singers with such violent lyrics are often outspokenly anti-gay outside of their music as well. Some performers, however, don’t address gay topics in their music but are very homophobic in their words and deeds. Country performers Big & Rich and Brad Paisley often speak out against gay rights. It’s difficult to condemn their music if it isn’t actively homophobic, but I certainly won’t buy anything performed by someone who uses their fame to advocate against my equality." bit.ly/QzcF9O I've been looking and I can't find any statement that Brad made against gay rights. Where did this one person see or hear that Brad "speaks out against gay rights". Before I believe a random blog writer, I need to see or hear an interview where Brad actually said these types of things. BTW, I really don't know much about Brad or his music and don't really care to know more- but I would like to see links to interviews before I label anyone. I would too. But this guy seems to be more than just a random blogger. He also writes for Queerty.

This guy could simply be referring to the song we have been discussing or he could have "heard" that Brad speaks out against gay rights. It's not that I don't believe that a country music artist, or any celebrity for that matter, would do what this blogger is implying. I'm just thinking of how things get twisted or outright made up in the press.

She really is a talented songwriter and Dear Mr. President is an amazing song! Lyrics video:

Ok, I'm afraid of being a shit-stirrer with this post but The Blog That Shall Not Be Named is reporting that Tobey Keith was approached by Idol last spring and turned it down. This via Hollywood Reporter, which cited an interview with a no doubt tiny paper in CA. It reads to me that Keith was just bragging about being approached and there isn't a whole lot of credibility.
But it DOES worry me that they are seriously looking for country stars, and more worrisome to me, BIG stars for the whole panel, and they're willing to pay big salaries all around. I think that lessens the chance of AL getting the gig (and consequently of me watching the show).

Swarm, I post this to let you know how I feel when reading your posts--and I realize that my feelings are my responsibility and not yours. I really value the content of your posts and learn a lot from them. I am a heterosexual with a gay family member, but agree that I can never understand the depths of the problems faced by the LGBT community. Everyone can learn more, but I find myself being less receptive to what you are saying simply because of the tone of your most recent posts (again, my problem).
I love your signiature and recently shared it with my RL friends. But in this case, I feel like those of us on ATOP that would benefit from learning from your perspective would be best served by the "place of love" approach as opposed to the "break it down" approach.
Maybe, I'm too sensitive--just felt the need to express it.

Pink had and continues to have direct financial interest in WWFM success, so I dismiss her praise for WWFM. Has she ever praised ADAM not in relation to her own song? She certainly did not mention Adam's name on the stage... "someone" ????? no name???? Has she ever twitted any support for Adam? I can't quote the interview but I directly heard her say that Adam sang it way better than she did. She could never hit the notes that he did. Paraphrasing but it was something like that. Here's the youtube where Pink says she found a guy who could sing WWFM way better than her. There's also another date when she sang it live and introduced it as Adam Lambert's song and he could sing it way higher than she could;

Unfortunately - I don't remember any instance where she did mention Adam by name. And if she did - great! The moment I hear it - I'll start "liking" Pink, I promise! ;D (I am very limited this way).

(I have no problem with Swarm's tone. At all. I enjoy it. Probably some others do, probably some others don't.) No one is posting to necessarily "serve" someone else, I don't think - just expressing themselves.
