I will be very sad if Adam doesn't get Idol, but somehow I think this may be AI 's last year,IMHO the show just isn't relevant or current, It may be a blessing in disguise if Adam isn't a judge, maybe something incredible will turn up for Adam.. The old "if one door closes .."adage. I guess we'll just have to see. I don't think a BB#1 album can be called a flop. no one can take that title away. Also first gay artist to be at that level another first. Therefore a success . It's all in the perception and the perception seems to be that it is successful. IMHO RCA isn't going anywhere they are going to put out a third single. Adam has said he will be touring in the future. Not to worry.. this man is just getting started,It's only been three years.. He's done amazingly well. :-*There will always be ups and downs...nothing seems to go straight up. That is usually the pattern when a market becomes saturated with a certain kind of show. I honestly hope this is true. I'm tired of this climb and then desperate cling to stardom that I'm witnessing with these shows (among the JUDGES--not the contestants!), and ready to give up watching the whole lot of them (yes, I actually do watch all of them, sometimes feeling somewhat masochistic). It seems that artists are scrambling to keep themselves still a hot commodity because the music industry is in shambles, grasping at anything to keep a career viable (singing competitions! licensing songs! appearing on Glee, or better yet, having your catalogue on there! Fake "organic" viral video!) . That is why I suspect AL has gotten the cold shoulder he's expressed--beyond the Idol stigma. Those at the "cool table" are afraid they will lose their spot, so can't be associated with someone not of their peerage. I would never have believed it a few years ago that the biggest pop stars were competing to be on the American Idol panel. Everything is so screwy these days! As I've expressed before, it seems the gap on each side of the judge table is widening. The "stars" on one side; the increasingly irrelevant contestants on the other. It's a damned shame. I just don't see a lot of support among recording artists, outside of Country, which is a whole 'nother matter. Kinda miss the old days when licensing your song was considered selling out. (Beatles' Revolution coming on in a Reebok ad shocked me back in the day--I think Michael Jackson owned the rights.) In fact, even signing with a major label was, lol. It was all about artistic integrity. Sigh.

It was all about artistic integrity. Sigh. I so agree with what you said, there seems to be a feeling of desperation in the music industry and many are out for themselves. The country music segment seems much more loyal to their singers and much more successful. Adam is coming on the scene when the record business appears to be in tatters, He will find his way,I have great confidence, unfortunately there will be bumps in the road. I get sick to my stomach from all the reality talent shows.. It's like a carnival with the fat lady, the fire eater, the stilt man,etc times 100. I can no longer watch any of them, including SYTYCD ,which was my favorite show at one time. Maybe Adam just has to get back to the basics, SINGING.. His voice will rise to the heavens.. and he will continue to be a world onto himself.IMHO he's better off not sharing lunch at the same table (high School) with the folks who can't hold a candle to him. The road to success and longevity may be lonely, but I still believe that talent and greatness will win out. There are no shortcuts..In my opinion, Adam will have to go through the same fire that many unique individuals go through.. It's a journey.. a journey which helps make them timeless and epic. I hope fans help by giving Adam that time and space to develop and grow and stop comparing him to other artists who may be selling more records or are on more shows.. There really is no comparison..as Adam has said, It takes a minute .

I know I come here too much and spread my gloom, but it is nice to get stuff off one's chest in a private place which was designed for that. The odd thing is that in my gut on a visceral level I believe he has Idol and that he has had it for a long time. Probably why it is making me seem a little unhinged to myself.

I dunno....I'd just like to know if we have ANY evidence that Enrique has been contacted by Idol - If he's the one Shirley says is highest on the list (apart from the people we know have been approached and/or signed) why is there nothing out there? Or is there? ....I'm waiting for another Hollywood Reporter "leak"....If there is nothing about Adam, I'll take that as a very bad sign. Oh and that PopJustice article schedule for Friday - aren't they in the UK? Can't see that having anything to do with Adam.

I'm pretty stressed about Idol too - think about it several times during the day every single day. And I don't even like the show. I stopped watching midway through S9 & haven't gone back. I will watch reluctantly if he gets the job. So it's not for ME I'm hoping for this, it's for him. He wants it very much (that's been obvious since the possibility first surfaced) and unfortunately he needs it at this point.
Maybe I shouldn't say "needs". I think he will have a successful career without it because talent like his cannot be ignored forever. Can it??????????
So no, not "needs", but there is no question that the exposure would do wonders for him - for his music first & foremost, but also so people can see the real Adam Lambert and realize he's not this scary, freakish, OTT, makeup-wearing gay guy but an honest, humble, smart, kind & loyal human being in an industry that celebrates & rewards ignorant, semi-talented, self involved douchbags?

Why isn't he performing on the VMA's? - I would have bet good money last year that he'd be involved this year. WTF? You want a guaranteed GREAT performance - book AFL!! Are these people nuts?!! I get soooooo annoyed!

I get soooooo annoyed! Absolutely he is often ignored, radio has done that big time. VH1 never even played his NCOE video which is such an interesting video. This is exactly why he needs powerful exposure. One reason that I want him on Idol is to show the eye rollers what smart, sweetheart he is. I think the makeup and AMAs gave a lot of people the wrong idea about him.

There are too many talented people who have had many doors shut in their faces without another one opening. The streets of Hollywood, Nashville, Broadway, etc are littered with their broken hearts. He has what it takes - now all he needs is a little luck.

I am glad to hear you say that about when a door closes..... which has a comrade in "everything works out for the best". These sentiments only make sense in the context of an advanced, wealthy, industrial society where things usually work out OK for most people. Try telling that to someone in the Sudan. Even in the US things do not always work out for the best for many people. That being said, things have work out very well for Adam to date, so he is lucky so far.

The meme "Things always work out for the best" annoys the hell out of me because it is obviously not true. I just hope it's true in Adam's case. I wish it were true in everyone's case of course but it isn't & never will be. I'm not a pollyanna and that's why I come to the Dark side. That doesn't mean I can't be optimistic and positive from time to time. ;D I CAN & I AM! I like that so many on yesterday's thread joined the #ibelieve club. I was there at one time but I slid back a bit. :-/
