I don't believe that everything always works out for the best, but I do believe that some people are artists of making new bests out of what works out.
Adam, for example, as an understudy in Wicked, has mentioned that he didn't get as many opportunities as he would have liked to get to play that role during his Wicked time. Things weren't working out for the best for him then, but rather than settling with that level of success, he used his dissatisfaction to drive him to American Idol and toward new "bests" in his life.
No matter what happens, Adam seems to have the drive that will keep him searching for more if he wants more, whatever that more may be, and the attitude of deciding to fully enjoy the best life brings him in the big and small moments that come, because (and here is the dark part, lol, ) nothing stays stationary in life; the best moments come and go, and the art of living life is looking around and deciding to find the best places to enjoy in whatever moment and circumstance you are living.
I always remind my sons, who are pursuing music and film careers, that unless they can find daily joy and affirmation in the process of creating, they are not in the right career.

Of course you're right lynne! Adam is one of those fortunate people who is able to make a "new best" out of whatever happens. He's said many times that he's never satisfied and always wants more. He's certainly gotten more - when we remember where he was pre-Idol. I doubt he'll ever be satisfied with the status quo, but rather than cry & whine about lost opportunities (Trespassing sales, radio, Idol, etc) he'll move on to the next goal with excitement and optimism. At least that's the part of him he'll show the world. I can only speak for myself, but I think many of us have been frustrated the past year with the disappointments and this Idol thing seems like one more to add to the list IF it doesn't happen. It's been a long 2 months awaiting an announcement. I tend to get impatient. LOL It's important to remember the successes of course....(QUEEN for one)...even here on the dark side. I still have plenty of optimism left and I'm sure we'll all be revitalized for single #3 whether he gets this gig or not. GREAT POST LYNNE! Especially this: I always remind my sons, who are pursuing music and film careers, that unless they can find daily joy and affirmation in the process of creating, they are not in the right career.

So no, not "needs", but there is no question that the exposure would do wonders for him - for his music first & foremost, but also so people can see the real Adam Lambert and realize he's not this scary, freakish, OTT, makeup-wearing gay guy but an honest, humble, smart, kind & loyal human being in an industry that celebrates & rewards ignorant, semi-talented, self involved douchbags? I feel kinda lost in ATop these days--not really knowing which thread to turn to. The moon garden is too acedemic and off topic for me, I hate the restrictiveness of the main thread and I am not really a dark person. In fact I was sorta afraid to read too much here for fear of getting down. But in reality the parts I've read have made me feel better. It always helps to hear both sides in order to be confident in an opinion for me. Too much idiolistic fake cheerleading and I start doubting everything. But it is so nice to hear the conversation about what if he doesn't get Idol, and the distict possibility of a third single getting nowhere or not even happening. What if he never makes it as a big pop star? Theses are thoughts we all should have and thinking about how Adam will go on actually makes me feel better. He is too good for the current pop world and maybe a slow burn is better than flames flying from his head. Anyway thanks for giving me a place to ramble, and to rad different ideas. Team #ibelieve and #eyeswideopentoo The third single is happening. I am 100% sure. They are waiting for the best time to announce, and even Adam agreed that the wait has merits. (I am sure there will be 4th and 5th singles as well -based on Adam's comments). What if he will not become a big pop star...- THIS IS a possibility, IMO... but so what? He will ALWAYS make a good living now, there are so many doors that would open for him if he tries - fashion, design, Broadway, film...anything.... He will be fine and happy and comfortable. I just want to be able to hear him sing for years to come...and I can;t see him stopping...even if he becomes an indy artist - we will be able to hear him... I see him as a "too talented" for the current scene...I know - I am not a good judge, as I can't really appreciate anyone but him... I hate all the not pure, not trained non-voices that populate the top charts and the pop culture...To me - he is a shining diamond in the sea of dull glass, but everyone is so used to that glass that they (radio, advertisers, music industry "leaders"),are not capable of appreciation or even noticing the diamond... re threads: I think you can say what you feel in the main thread. I understand that people don't want to get upset as they use this place as an escape into their "happy place"... so in the worst case - you'll get a little backlash and it might generate an interesting discussion.

I wanted to give an opinion which is not gloomy really, but the News Thread is very touchy today. It is more than obvious that this era has not been a financial success to date. Now it is my hope that we are about to enter a period when this could change. For one thing, Trespassing is a much cooler and unique single and it will pop on the radio. Also, it gives the feeling of the album much better. Here is the part that is a little controversial, when I list the reasons I have to feel hopeful about Idol, the fact that he is being given a new single is always on the list. When I have mentioned this, it is always pointed out that numerous singles were always planned. To me, this original planned would have been changed by the sales reality. I really believe we would not be getting Trespassing as a supported single unless something really big in the promo department was on the horizon. It might not be Idol, though I hope it is, but it has to be something pretty big. It is Sept. and we should be getting that secret stuff pretty soon. Whatever it is, RCA seems to call it logistics.

You know, I will be ok if Enrique gets the Idol thing (I've been half expecting it ever since his name started popping up so much recently). But I will be pissed that Idol apparently has been stringing Adam along for much of the summer. That just sucks.

I will have trouble wishing Idol well I fear.

Back again. I hope that RCA's reason for releasing the single were not just Idol centered, and if Idol falls through I hope they just don't let it languish on its own. That is a real worry to me now. It will be so heartbreaking to have a third single not do well. But with what happened to first two singles, I fear the worst. RCA said clearly they were waiting on "logistics/Idol" for release. Now it looks like these logistics might not come through, so were does that leave the label support for the single? I want to be excited for Trespassing which I love, but mostly I feel very anxious.
