Adam will chart his own course... he's fearless . IMHO he would rather be himself than have the
success he might have, if he down played his over the top Adamness :makeup wearing, gay club
hopping, openly showing off the love of his life Sauli.
He is fierce & and honest... I think the courage he shows, just might be a greater claim to fame ,at
some point than even his amazing talent.

Someone said in passing in yesterday's News Thread that Trespassing was off to a better start than NCOE or BTIKM. I am not a radio expert so I am wondering if anybody who is knowledgeable might feel this way also. It seems that this third single doing at least moderately well is really, really important. Since coming here, I now realize what an extremely difficult thing it is to get a decent amount of radio play. I realize this is just the beginning for T.

I'm far FAR from a radio expert but I don't see how anyone can say that just yet. It got, what, two radio spins? And a third coming up on Monday from my local CHR (B104). It's early days - really early days! If someone can say I'm wrong about this please do. I want to believe that RCA is back there pushing like hell this time.

Preaching to the converted here but just want to point out another double standard example; Florida's 'Whistle'; If Adam was to sing this would Radio ever play it? No, because Adam is gay and isn't a rap artist. We should know this by now. I love this song. It's done with a wink and a smile, from a rapper who could be getting away with hard-core language. Plus, it's catchy and fun!

"I had a feeling Frank Ocean would become the darling. He's perfect. He's black. He once had a male lover, but it could have been a "passing phase," so he could still potentially have some hot chick on his arm. I also knew he would get VMAs and Saturday Night Live, so people can show how cool they are for supporting a guy who once slept with another guy."
.......Adam has jumped on the Band Wagon too.

I find it very sad and ironic that people who complain about Adam allegedly being treated like a bad guy for not being the "right kind of gay", are treating Frank like a bad guy for being the "right kind of gay"...

[/IMG]
No, of course not, Glampoon. I'm only expressing a little bit of resentment that media/A-listers can congratulate themselves for being so hip, like, "aren't we sooooo progressive and open and post-gay because we are booking someone/applauding a man who sometimes likes men." I think he was brave talking abt it. But I'm also saying that AL has titanium testicles and I wish it were more recognized. (I have never used that word as much as on Atop, lol.) Nothing against Frank Ocean, at all. From what I hear, he's very talented. I also think that the actual performances' quality is moot. We know that there are many factors in these: acoustics, ear monitors, etc. As I recall, Kelly Clarkson was one of the few performers on the AMAs who was able to overcome the sound issues and come up with a pitch-perfect performance. Some performers use autotune to such an extent we don't even know what some "artist's" actual voices are like and whether they can sing (Chris Brown). Who remembers how good Madonna's performance was the night she kissed Britney and Christina? It's the spectacle. ETA: I feel like I'm really stepping in it here, and I apologize to anyone who is offended. It is more a criticism of American society than of a particular artist. I STILL take issue with those who professed to be bisexual to be provocative and as a media ploy. Yet at the same time, this can help to break boundaries abt sexuality, even if it is fake (I still think Bowie professed to be gay to push boundaries, but that yes, he prolly DID sleep with Mick Jagger, as widely reported. I don't think that's that unusual.) I also think sexually is much more fluid, but paradoxically, hard-wired.

I couldn't agree more! What does it matter if Ocean is gay or bi? Why are people jumping to the conclusion that Frank had a "passing phase" of being gay? All I can figure out is jealousy. Like Adam, Frank can't win for losing in some people's eyes. Ocean didn't "come out in the right way", or he is "too normal" or he isn't "gay enough" or "completely gay" or he is "just bi, not gay". He doesn't have the "bravery that Adam had". Frank Ocean is a black, R&B singer, his circumstances are different than Adam's. One is not braver than the other. junkets: FYI, I have seen the types of statements that I quoted above posted on other Adam boards and from many Adam fans on Twitter. My frustration was directed at the general attitude I've seen towards Mr. Ocean, and was not meant to be directed just to you or to your post. I'm sorry if it came across that way. I do believe this is a conversation worth having and it never hurts to examine our attitudes and thoughts.
