Can we angst in the radio thread now? (Because radio is a little depressing at the moment) Is it ok to spread the darkness around? I'm a little confused, I guess.

JazzRocks, I don't think any outsiders can FIND this thread... That's the beauty of it. I saved it in my favourites. In the news thread people say there's still time for NCOE to catch up as a single, like the whole summer... Jean, I thought that TPS being #1 on Billboard and critical acclaim are enough to ensure album No 3. In addition, I firmly believe Trespassing will get maybe some awards, as an album... I don't listen to anything else much, but I doubt there will be a better album this year... I just wanted to comment that this thread is quite easy to find. There's been over 16,000 views and I doubt all of those are from the members who use this thread. It shows up under 50 most recent posts and also under New Topics. I was just checking to see if the thread was still active, and I can see it is.

Does it really matter if people find this thread (and if you don't know the shortcut, it isn't easy to find). Charts are public, HDD numbers are all over, people know what radio is playing and what they are hearing. Adam has a lot of great stuff happening, but in terms of radio and sales it's not like people can be "fooled" into thinking era 2 is---at the moment---a great commercial success.
I am really disappointed right now. Not in Adam or Trespassing, but in a whole lot of other things.

I came here because I was looking for a place where I could celebrate the good things that are happening for Adam and his fantastic new album, and also express my worries about radio and sales in a place where the posters are on Adam's side like I am. MJ's has too many adversarial posters who get way to gleeful at the thought of Adam struggling. This stuff is better discussed among friends.

I am really depressed. All that voting and he moves down a notch.
RCA screwed up with the singles. They need to rectify the situation. They messed with his career. They chose the wrong singles. He describes the album as funk electronic and what comes out BTIKM and a Bruno retread ( Adm makes it is own beautifally). RCA can move on...becasue there is always someone else around the corner waiting for their turn. This was Adam's chance to shine. His album is beautiful..it works...but radio hasn't glombed onto BTIKM and NCOE. You screwed up RCA. Shame on you. Fix it!!!
Brits go home....unless you Brits are willing to make Adam No. 1, stay the hell home.

The radio and sales are not what anyone would want them to be, and it's nice to have a safely hidden and segregated thread for angst. I agree about btikm, but disagree about ncoe. I can't imagine a more "right" single than ncoe. If US radio won't play it, then they probably won't play anything from Trespassing, and that's worrying, for Adam, his album, etc. The Brits are the one upside to all this. Adam has Queen, and Britain is playing the hell out of ncoe, the way US would be if they were...I don't know how to finish the sentence as I don't get the problems ncoe is having on US radio.

Just a clarification. Are we moving into the Salon or are we splitting into two where dark stays here and deep goes into Jamie's moon-thread? Just need clarification.
I also wanted to take the opportunity to thank all the folks here who are making this place such a special and wonderful location to visit. I was always reading, just felt I really did not have a ton to say and everything was already said when I arrived, that's why I did not post recently.
I love Mika's and Junie's deep and literary style and hope they continue to join us often and shares their musings with us. At the same time, I am clear that not everyone, myself included, is capable of writing like this, and I don't think anybody ever expected it, but obviously a few folks felt that pressure. Please don't, duberville. It is all about expression of individuality and none of us can be anybody but their own self.
Some of us will write essays and others will not. Some will bring some humor, others will always be serious. Some will cut through to the essence of a topic quickly, others will beat around the bush. It has always been one of the most amazing things about a forum like this, how much personalities shine through and we each bring who we are and what we've got. I found this place to be the most inclusive and well-coming and I think the only confusion was coming from our attempts to find our place and purpose in a house that was being rearranged.
I always felt that this place was a salon, more so than a dark thread. And given that I just returned from being Colonel Mustard for the last hour, let me add a mix of lounge and study and conservatory and library and kitchen and dining room. No we have not yet played billard here, but we certainly have tried to read the eight ball at times. What this place is less of is a drafty hall or a ball room, those tend to be found more upstairs.
Now I am preparing myself for another potential move, just want to understand first, who is supposed to be moving to this new salon. Or perhaps I just have to wait and find out?
In general, I was always enjoying this place as a place to be comfortable. I am a bit dismayed that we start splitting up into so many separate threads, because I enjoy this casual conversation that jumps between many different topics in the same way a conversation in a family room would do.
I find threads that focus on one specific topic often to be very interesting for a page or two, but eventually they tend to run their course and often die. Sometimes they can be revived or go through a few spurts of activity, but discussion threads need this regular influx of new life or new subjects and the more split up we become, the more this will be a problem, imo.
I realize of course that the desire to create a daily news only thread is driving all these events, but wanted to just throw in that wherever we end up moving in and I am very flexible in that, but I do have a preference when it comes to whether or not to spread out into many threads. In the end it will be up to the moderators to decide how they would like to guide us all, but for my two cents of whatever my thoughts are worth, I love when the big family is allowed to be together, because the one thing I truly want is for Atop to stay this wonderful and successful forum it has been for so long.
See you all around...I'll find you somewhere......

...looks like we are splitting into THREE threads...cause HSM created a radio thread.. so I am going to wait and see... not clear how the radio thread is dfferent from this one since the ONLY reason to angst is radio at the moment... smokey - for you we are doing our best...and that's all we can do... and remember - ADAM IS HAPPY!

I SO agree with this. I love the rambling, the essays, the topics. If there are things I don't want to read--scroll as usual. I don't want more compartmentalization. This is cozy.
