[sets out a bucket of both karmic cream and valium lollies]
[takes one of each while continuing glittery hula/pompom dance]
[ignores the little dollies and spikey lollies attached to belt]

[grins and passes over a valium lolly]
[continues dancing with tiny dollies with sharpened lollies poised over their blackened, shriveled hearts]
[coos at dollies, whispering "Add...or else!!"

He also did the radio promo for mix philadelphia and that have not spun his song yet. just disappointing Same goes for WSTW. They are playing Durbin and Kris VOL. WHy no spins for NCOE? I would like to be a fly on the wall to see how they justify not giving NCOE a chance on the radio I keep telling you this: WSTW plays TVOL about once a week at 3 or 4 in the morning. It is not like this station is playing these songs 30 times a week during prime hours. Who cares if this small station in Deleware gives TVOL one overnight spin once a week? My point is if WSTW is playing the other two, why not adam? Yes the spins have slowed down but at one point, I listen to this station on the weekends and that's how I heard both of the guys during the day. Adam is a largest star if you want to use that point. This station has been getting Daily requests have, no play. It's just frustrating.

This station has been getting Daily requests have, no play. It's just frustrating. Because that is the way it is. Random stations pick certain songs to play on overnights. There will be a station in Nowheresville, USA that spins the hell out of some flop single but won't touch the #1 song in the country. SometimesOftentimes radio play just doesn't make sense! The one or two overnight, weekly spins that WSTW has given TVOL over the past two months is FAR from a ringing endorsement. The 4-8 spins every month at this small radio station is an isolated case and is not a reflection of overall support for TVOL or for Durbin's lame song. TVOL has been out for three months and it's AI is BELOW NCOE. Durbin's song fell out of the top 50 several weeks ago after going nowhere on HAC. I guess WSTW likes songs that are weak radio songs...IDK!

I don't think it's about catching a break. I just had this discussion w another fan only an hour ago. Blames/excuses of lack of adds, of older fan base, or not a strong fan base just shadows the one reason I believe the resistant of spins. The big "G" IMO I watched AGT last night, a male dance group came on scantily dressed and suggestive moves, and immediately the two males judges just about puked on the sides. Well isn;t that telling? Adam has an incredible voice, has a Bruno Mars song, #1 album, decent fan base, then why the blackballing ok bringing this back to #'s. It seems like the album is nosediving on amazon, the single isn't even in the 100's, will requesting get this song on radio. Again Q102 played the song last night at 10 PM on the countdown. I'm disgusted w/them. I went to the radio promo and the room was full of tweenies and only two adults. SO stop blaming the old fans for the lack of adding I agree 100% Let's think about this logically. Something like 33 states have an anti equality law, NO state has achieved marriage equality by ballot box, only by court ruling. So in what universe are we to pretend to believe that the bias that impacts gay marriage doesn't carry over to radio/media and a gay male artist who is NOT hiding it? I won't suspend disbelief just to be "positive". I have tracked Adam's experience with this from day one. It happens to be my primary interest for a couple of reasons. NOBODY in radio is free from the accusation, given how every spin of his former songs was usually accompanied with gay snark, insults and fake "jokes". The testosterone insult from GQ was just a few months ago! We all know the drama that was so public and even on an individual station level SO MUCH MORE happened that didn't get advertised because it was just relentless. Even now, I"d roughly estimate that 80% of the new apparent young female Twitter fans still mention it. "too bad he's gay blah blah blah". The LGBT media community is of no help whatsoever, after being so awful for the past 3 years and just lately coming around. But not full throatedly. Queerty, After Elton, Towleroad etc are weak. With alot of members either apathetic or nasty. Or just clueless. I happen to have a client who is an executive for Clear Channel. Last week, I decided to have a more in depth conversation about adds and spins. I got the whole run down about market research, people wearing the portable people Arbitron thingy, how their research is real time and down to IP level to exclude the same repeated fans, how every single hit and action on every website is reported etc etc etc. I still hadn't mentioned Adam's name and the guy used American Idol as an example LOL. He went into detail about the Clay Aiken season, as an example, saying the whole industry was POSITIVE that Clay was going to win based on google hits etc. He said there was NO way that Reuben was anywhere near the level of excte in the public like Aiken was and how they were dumbfounded on the finale. So at the end, I asked the simple question, OK, so if you're telling me that PD's add and spin based on common figures they all have access too, and maybe do some tweaking for their particular market, you're saying that the adds and spins are not with bias against a specific artist, right? "Oh yes, definitely". Me: "OK so Adam Lambert is probably going to drop at BB #1 tomorrow and you're telling me that local PD's aren't going to have gay bias against him and ONLY use their market research? Because the last era proved other wise, for example Open House Party jerking us around having request "contests" for spins, then when we won the contests they got ticked off and changed the "rules", which never even existed in the first place AND browbeat the label with complaints and whining about 'too many votes'." NO surprise the guy looked at me, blinked, and for the first time in the conversation, broke eye contact, lost his bubbly enthusiasm, looked down at his coffee, doing a fake stir, and mumbled oh sure, only the research. Research my ass. That's my opinion. And the ICING ON THE CAKE is those two banners for FMQB! What could be more blatant than that? OH, early adders...whoops, typo. More like, Whooops, oh no RCA we didn't REALLY say that we were gonna do that. And I'm not thrilled to see Adam ask for requests in his Twitter bio. It reminds me of when he desperately tweeted BTIKM is dropping! Request! Because even HE isn't privy to what's really going on IMO. So yeah, this is gonna be a rough start. I do believe if he can hold it together and not be disillusioned, he can be successful. Then again, I noted a comment that on one interview he said he was cynical now. THAT is definitely a new adjective for the formerly peaceful hippy boy who believed just being talented, hardworking, nice and somewhat fierce would work. SO that's my take. I'd love to be totally wrong.

WSTW plays a lot of Idol music. They have built an audience based in part on this. I agree what the overnight spins on WSTW mean nothing -- this station is not a small insignificant station from a small insignificant place. It is from my hometown -- Wilmington DE. So be really careful or some of those Delaware Fighting Blue Hens will get you!!! WSTW added and played BTIKM -- and they will eventually add NCOE. Just a matter of time.

Allegory: That was a fascinating read. Thank you!!
I've always felt that Adam would have to make it overseas first and I think that is what is going to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't move over there at some point. His relationship with Sauli might make it even more possible and yes, he probably is becoming more cynical, who wouldn't.

We do not know what is going on with Q102 not adding NCOE yet but there is no chance that after supporting Adam, adding WWFM, IIHY and BTIKM, and putting WWFM Q102 into Power Rotation, that they suddenly noticed Adam was gay and decided to not play his new single.
Regarding Clear Channel stations and research -- I do a lot of work with Clear Channel and it is decentralized. Some stations are sophisticated, most are not. All stations use some research data in determining what songs to add BUT I have never met a PD who only made judgments based on research -- because the research often misses hits that build over time.
Finally, fans do not have access to the research on Adam's songs but I would not assume that the music from Trespassing does well in target audience research. Looks to me like for many stations NCOE is going to have to prove itself with test spins and countdown exposure.
