OK, just got my RS in the mail. She typed about 90% of the review. (It's on page 68) She left out this line:
"But after racing through ROF and WWFM, Lambert finds his groove, showing off his theatrical training on heavily choreographed numbers like "Strut."
I can't believe people are bitching. It's not the greatest review, but it's still fair and honest, not a hatchet job.

On the Rolling Stone review -- 1. A 3 from RS is good -- they are harsh critics. According to Metacritic: For 2,740 reviews, Rolling Stone has graded: * 34% higher than the average critic * 3% same as the average critic * 63% lower than the average critic 2. RS was not a fan of Bowie or Freddy in the 70's and 80's -- only in the rear view mirror. Well this makes me feel better, because I received my RS mag today and read the review. My take was the guy totally acknowledged Adam's vocal chops/ability/talent, but, he seems to want a less choreographed performance. My opinion only, if Adam is going more vocal and more organic for album #2, his next tour will probably also reflect this and not have the same choreography as the first tour. Many different sides, as WE all know, Rolling Stone is probably waiting for the more vocal and organic Adam to appear. I actually believe they like him, after album #2 comes out it will be interesting to see what they have to say. I really hope his next tour isn't organic! I want choreography, dancers, background singers and costume changes. Hell, I want him to have P!NK's budget!

The fact that it is in RS and they did the review is a plus. It will peak interest and "inquiring minds" will want to check it out and make up their own minds about the voice, music, and presentation. Any publicity is good publicity in the entertainment world. Look at Charilie Sheen. Can't believe I wrote that.

I liked the visual aspects, the dancers, the interludes almost as much as the songs/vocals/general AFL-amazingness! BUT, I did like FS and RMT, too. And I don't see how anyone could call those concerts campy...so I guess I'm back to team #ACDWTFHWAIWLI!

And I want the next DVD to look as awesome as her's ....(gorgeous HD and there were lots and lots of close ups)

Fuck Rolling Stone Mag. I just finished watching the DVD on my TV with my Bose speakers. (No spoilers, promise.) What a tour de force! First and foremost, who sings that well, that powerfully, that emotionally and that consistently live????? Adam Lambert, that's who. The vocals sound too good to be true. The sound production let's that voice shine. Every word is clear. Every note right on. Frankly, the sound is better than I heard in the concert hall, where everything was so loud it tended to be muddy. With the sound on the DVD, Adam's voice and delivery are even more impressive.
Altho they trimmed the time between numbers, the DVD shows the performance straight through, and the energy Adam maintains and even escalates is impressive. By the time we reach the final section of celebration, the joy transcends the medium and you feel it and get swept up in it sitting in your living room.
I am so glad and grateful that RCA decided to release this. If it is not universally embraced now, I am willing to bet a month's salary that in the future it will be considered a classic; the epitome of a stellar live performance from start to finish.

would anyone who has the magazine tell me who was the reviewer please and thank you :-) Name listed for the review is Barry Walters. Update: He is listed as a senior critic at RS and did something about "deconstructing Freddie Mercury". Anyway, don't feel like delving through wikipedia tonight. One to many glasses of wine after a long day. PS - Today is my Friday. So glad.

I agree Cassie...the sound was much better on the DVD than live. If you want to comment more on the DVD, mosie on over to the DVD thread where spoiling is welcome.
