And Journey fans are having the same debate -- is it still Journey without Steve Perry (he is still alive but they are using substitutes). NO! Steve is second only to Adam for me

Just my take on the Adam with Queen -- I do not think most Queen fans care that much about Adam --- the big issue is that many Queen fans think that the band name Queen should have been retired when Freddy died. They think Brian, Roger and John (before he retired) should have used a new name. This has been an issue with Queen fans for years -- since Freddy died. If Paul McCartney and Ringo toured as the Beatles, I would expect John Lennon fans to react similarly. And Journey fans are having the same debate -- is it still Journey without Steve Perry (he is still alive but they are using substitutes). I have mixed feelings about Queen -- I refused to see them live since Freddy died because it was always with impersonators -- even when George Michael did it -- but now will be there. I think Adam belongs on that stage with Queen. I think Freddy would approve of it because it will be a new take on the music. I want to see this music done in the 21st Century -- by a 21st Century Man. But I still have no interest in Freddy impersonators -- there was and is only one Freddy. Just like there is only one Adam. I'm not a motivated Queen fan, I probably fit in the majority of their fan base. Personally, I don't like impersonators, never have. I tend to get the creeps with Elvis impersonators, rather embracing them for the fun. The QE to me is entertaining, not badly done. It just fall flat for me because doesn't have its own voice. Even though I don't care for Paul Rodgers rendition, I can respect him for using his own view point.

THIS above..can't find the up arrow. I do hope that Queen Fans will understand this. It is sad but we cannot change the past and have Freddie here. What we do want is to live life in the NOW...and Adam is the right man for Now. I can't wait for the concerts as Adam makes the songs his own, and pays homage to Freddie.

Big difference here -- Adam's version: he grabbed me at the first verse Marc's version: he lost me at the first verse This guy did sound like Freddie, but no emotion. Just saying...
Many of the Queen fans who don't like the idea of Adam singing with the band have praised Marc Martel - which makes sense, because he's a good singer - but it makes me wonder if the Queen diehards prefer him over Adam because his vocal tones sound eerily close to Freddie's. Is that what they want, a Mercury sound-alike? Even if the singer has none of Freddie's emotion?
Speaking only for myself, I'd rather hear Adam, with all of his vocal powers and ability to deliver songs with passion, interpreting the Queen music catalog in his own unique, fresh way. With all due respect to Marc, the music deserves to be sung by someone who offers more than a copy (although it's a very good copy) of the Freddie sound. There can be only one Mercury. Just like there's only one AFL.I think they like Martel because He is safe! He is imitating Freddie! Although his voice is fantastic, he lacks the emotion and soul that both Freddie and Adam sing those songs with. IMO, they are scared shitless of Adam. They are afraid he will sound better and get high praise. How would we feel if we finally heard someone else sing WWFM better than Adam?! :-/

thanks monsterdeto So Adam plays by the rules.... as much as the rest of us I guess!!! YES and Not!
I never tire of Voodoo ....love it maybe more than anything on FYE. And I am a "love the dancey songs" kind of gal.
BTR has a similar soothing vibe...which is so relaxing and enjoyable ...a great mellow me now/keep me mellow song. I really like it!
When I go to London I will have to support the British movement and buy a few deluxe versions when there. I only ordered one. A few in the family might really appreciate BTR. All these musical sides/styles of Adam go a long way to grab the musical flavours and tastes of joe public. In my world I am not sure anyone in my family would buy his album, so gifting with the inclusion of songs like this represents Adam in so many ways, there has to be some song that resonates with them.
I have noticed that Cuckoo is not mentioned as often in some of the latest reviews...(sometimes not even given a nod while other songs are chosen for "discussion"). Picking a single is like a crap shoot! Everyone's taste is so different.

I was clicking around Adamtopia...thinking of PMing cassie... coming soon, cassie, and I found the thread: adamtopia.com/index.cgi?board=talkaboutadam&action=display&thread=669&page=6So if you are down for any reason click over there and hear all the praise. We may have a problem with some Queen fans, but on this "talking about Adam" thread we can remember that Adam is a highly praised artist and he can "sang".

I have mixed feelings about Queen -- I refused to see them live since Freddy died because it was always with impersonators -- even when George Michael did it -- but now will be there. I loved the stuff George Michael did with Queen/Queen songs. But then I love George Michael and he couldn't ever be an impersonator for Freddie for me because he always had his unique style. Also I guess I'm way more relaxed about thingses 8-) I'd be the first to line up for that Beatles tour
