This was posted at FYE. This USA Today article (Brian Mansfield) about the second week sales of FYE might put things in perspective. I didn't mean to hurt or discount anyone's feelings. The obstacles for Trespassing seem trivial compared to the FYE launch IMO. Dec 09, 2009 Album sales: Adam Lambert plummets, Carrie Underwood stays Top 10
lol deja vu much? :3
Speaking of sales drops, let's talk about Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment for a minute. Its weekly sales plummeted 74 percent, from nearly 200,000 its debut week to just shy of 51,000 in its second. If you're an Adam Lambert partisan, you can try to spin it all you want, but that's just bad. Did the Black Friday shopping rush factor? Maybe, but SoundScan's overall Top 200 sales were off only 14 percent for the week -- Adam's were down 74. For Your Entertainment had the biggest percentage drop of any album in the Top 200 (only one other album was off 70 percent). From a pure numbers standpoint, it came up more than 147,000 units short of its first week, a bigger shortfall than any other album on the chart save Boyle's -- which still outsold Adam by a margin of more than 10-to-1. His digital sales were also down last week.
Adam still hasn't found a foothold at radio, which he'll need if he wants to have solid week-to-week sales going forward after the holiday sales season. One of the major television networks clearly has doubts about his value to them, and the other networks will find amusement in booking him so they can thumb their noses at ABC for only so long. If he doesn't deliver a hit, those big network-TV opportunities (save maybe for Fox) will start drying up soon. In other words, the days of Adam Lambert as a perceived phenom are quickly drawing to a close. He needs a hit, and he needs it quickly.
Thanks for this. Very interesting. Especially since we know what the outcome has been - a world wide super star. He is in such a better place now. RCA believes in him. Doors are opening all over the world. It is inevitable even if frustrating these last few days. But today was a good day - today was a good good day.

Isn't that Olly guy opening for One Direction? Maybe his add had something to do with a little pull from the 1D team. (at least they didn't add Stefano, lol) I have no idea. I just found it amusing that the DJ was trying to spin the add as the song being "in demand." If it was so much in demand, other stations, somewhere, would have added it as well. That just reeked of a label, in this case Columbia, exerting some type of influence and pull. That add was definitely not by demand.

Thanks rabbitrabbit, but understand that you were questioning some of us as being Adam fans---and that is unfair. I think this place is generally very balanced, and let's face it, some stuff isn't all perfect and pretty. I don't think I am OTT or even particularly angsty so I'm not gonna feel responsible if some peope come in here and freak out. We are all adults. I went back and edited out that line. It actually wasn't about you or others being fans, I'd run into a known troll the other day elsewhere making some of the same arguments posters were making for the sole purpose of trolling, and I just was a little over it, realizing that some fans also were going down that route. So apologies again.

Someone on Twitter also mentioned that his You Tube is not actually "in demand" either! >:(

What she said I don't post here because I know nothing about numbers and depend on our trusty experts to spell things out in small words. I feel a bit shy to be here. But I do follow a lot of musicians/bands and based on that experience, I'm actually feeling quite positive about progress so far. That Trespassing has done as well as it has w/out a big single to buoy it says a lot and it is very early days for this album. (And if I have to chose - I'll take longevity over early burst.) No Pollyanna I - I've been pleasantly, frankly surprised at the consistently great buzz going on in the mainstream - he's really being treated like a force to be reckoned with even by those who give him mixed reviews - and most of those mixed reviews still show respect for him as an artist. And the buzz seems to be continuing. I think Adam is increasingly difficult to ignore, even for the most reactionary. NCOE is on its way up - and when it hits (I'm having trouble typing with my crossed fingers), I'm going to give up any/all worry and just play words with friends w/all my new free time What he said. I occasionally peek in here but I don't post. Now I will say, I, too, was pleasantly surprised by the steady drum beat of positivity from the critics - I'm heartened by it.

Here's hoping for that magic equation ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D My fav station Q102 almost always reports on Tuesday almost all Top 40 stations report on Tuesday. Q102 = Q1+0+2 = Q3 It is the "numbers thread". ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D We'll see!! I am very happy. ** Trying a magic trick. Let me see Z100 = Z+1+0+0 = 1 more week!!! and they will spin NCOE. Seriously weird adds by Z100 this week. *** But what happened to Tampa? 93.3 PLZ? They added Flo Rida today. Not even a spin? No mention. They were one of the strongest Adam stations in 2010. ** On Trespassing album sales -- we are headed deep into Summer -- I expect sales to continue to drop for a few weeks. There are a few big releases coming up but they are not natural sales drivers for Trespassing -- Usher, Bieber, Maroon 5, Chris Brown. And there will be a season shift down until the last week of July. But I also think this album will have a long-tail and keep selling. And we know that Adam will keep working and promoting it. ETA: And I believe in NCOE and it will get Top 40 airplay. ETA 2: Two new Top 40 spinners: WDJX-FM Louisville, Kentucky WDOD-FM Chattanooga, Tennessee There was a report in the news thread that WKSC-FM - 103.5 KISS FM - CHICAGO played NCOE earlier today. I haven't check it yet but that would be another new spinner today.
ETA: Sign of very tired Q3!!

WKSC has been spinning NCOE. This was the Fantabuloso concert station. They decreased to overnights for a bit, but in the past couple weeks having been giving the song at least 1 daytime spin.
