Radio Reference and Information Thread (non-numbers)

Hello all!! Welcome to the new Radio Reference and Information Thread!!

This thread has a different focus from the regular Numbers Thread as it will concentrate on non-numbers radio issues. What does that mean? Want to how to contact the radio stations in your city to request the latest Adam song? Want to tell everyone on ATOP which radio stations are playing FYE or Adam #2 in your country? Want to angst about Cumulus taking over the radio world? This is the place to do it!!

This is also the new Dos & Don'ts reference section for airplay requests. How often is ok. Does my station care if I phone, tweet, or text. Which dj's are being problematic. Etc, etc, etc.

The thread is currently a work in progress, but with Aftermath going to radio SOON, we're putting it up now rather than later! If we've forgotten anything, let us know!!

Just a reminder about US radio requests -- if a station has not added Aftermath to their playlist, the DJ cannot play it. Most stations are now programmed completely by a PD/MD and the DJ is just a personality. That means that no matter what they say they do not choose the songs that they are playing on their show or determine the frequency that it is played.

RCA Ed posted that they were sending Aftermath Remix to radio but has no add date, and it is not listed in Mediabase. (The Aftermath that is listed in the album track and has no playlist adds.) So there is no indication that this is going to be played on the radio.

I would not hurt to make a polite request and to email a request from a station that you really listen to. But be polite and do not spam the radio stations.

I think it should all be clearer next week. In the meantime, I would wait until stations have the song before requesting. In other words, ignore Adam's tweet.[/ul]
