When we took our son to certain concerts we always explained in advance that there would likely be some racy language. It wasn't an issue, then.

We chatted a bit and I told her I was going to see him when I was in London when he performed with Queen. She only vaguely knew who Queen is. Never heard of Freddy Freddie Mercury. But was amazed that I was going to see Adam. It was a bit of a reality check for me. Freddy Freddie probably died before she was born. She knew the music but it was historic to her. The punchline -- "I think my grandparents are Queen fans." That's interesting. I have frequent occasion to be around a large number of college students. I don't think there's a one of them that doesn't know who Queen or Freddie Mercury are. To them, Queen is like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Eric Clapton - giants who defined their genres and cast very long shadows indeed. A lot of them listen to this music at parties and events and think the world of these artists. I have to agree with you. My grandson, 15, and most of his friends listen to classic rock almost exclusively. He wears shirts and ties to school, but anywhere else he goes, ANYWHERE, he has on a T shirt with Queen, Bowie, Ramones, etc. He knows every Bowie song, which album it was on, when it was made. When I've driven he and a few friends somewhere, soccer practice last summer in particular, for 30 minutes it would be nothing but Bowie talk. Really cool..... except they're not Adam fans, of course.

Hoppers, I am totally with you....there is a certain age, where kids just don't have any filter and when you have a four year old bouncing inside the shopping cart or hopscotching away singing 'walk that walk like you don't give a fuck', you as a parent unfortunately have to give one or others around in the store surely will...lol
Mine are just in the age where they are beginning to segregate what is ok to say and what is not and they still have trouble on quite a few occasions. And no, this is not just about the swear words, it is sometimes just some otherwise flippant expression that makes you as a parent go like....omg I did not just hear my daughter say that..... Situation: redface, wishing the ground would open up, and yet totally laughing on the inside at the same time. It's part of parenting, I suppose.
A few more years and you will beyond that point too and then it is quite possible to explain that
a) situation matters b) Adam is a rock star and you are not....etc.... and c) even though Adam is a rock star, he does not get to say it every situation either, because believe me, he would like to say F U to some folks on occasion and cannot...
It all depends, even for a rock star.
Except if you are rapper or so, but that's a different story. I better don't tell my daughter the latter, otherwise she wants to be a rapper immediately - lol.

The band never played together and basically showed up his U.S. band or at least that's what I keep reading. LOL I read they were great, but haven't seen anything about "showing up" the US band. I think pro musicians are trained to do what they did... so not surprising at all. They were good but I don't think they showed up anyone. Hard to tell with the quality of the videos, but from what I saw, I'd say Isaac, Brian, Ashley, Tommy and the VJJ's have nothing to worry about. And why, even in RAH does Adam still have sound problems!! He was directing that soundman the entire set! :-/

Btw, my son loves Queen. He's 18. He's really Loki g forward o the concert in London.
I'm also 18 and love Queen and am looking forward to the concert in London
Wanted to share.........he is not 18, in his late 20's, significant other of the absolute World's Best Hairdresser :D ( we have to share him with Jordin Sparks) anyway........he LOVES Adam! I gifted him Trespassing and he texted me just today to say that there is not one song on the album he didn't love. I sent a text back saying Adam was in London and will be doing six shows with Queen, he had no clue this was happening. His text back was "WOW! I know why...his voice gives me the chills" My first thought was....seriously you did not know AFL was going to sing with Queen??????? that is I realized I am a certified AFL addict Damn, I never thought I would be considered a stalker if I recognized his boots

Adam did a great job at the Ray of Hope concert. However, after seeing close up vids, I am absolutely sure he missed his regular band mates. Adam is in his comfort zone on the stage. He is going to bring it in every performance. However, he brings it to another level when he is comfortable with his supporting cast/band members. The local band members did a great job. I couldn't hear the background singers that well in the performanes that were posted. I hope he connected with some new fans in the UK> I know they are two entirely different venues, but watching the MLB vids right before RAH vids, my vote goes for more relaxed, animated Adam with his usual bandmates. Competent and fun are two different mind sets. The back up singers at RAH looked really stiff and nervous to me, cute, but nervous.

No one seems to remember that Adam met JLS way back at the 2010 MMVA in Canada where he performed WWFM and won that International Video Award. JLS was also there performing I think. Pretty sure I remember they took pictures with Adam then too and really liked him.
