www.thegavoice.com/index.php/opinion/37-outspoken/2262-outspoken-adam-lambert-ethan-hawke-hugh-grant-and-more Outspoken: Adam Lambert, Ethan Hawke, Hugh Grant and more...BY STAFF MARCH 18, 2011 00:00 “I think the responsibility of today’s pop stars is to liberate the masses … I’m anti-conformity, as you can tell. But Lady Gaga has been doing a great job. I think she’s fucking fantastic. And it’s something beyond sexuality.” — Openly gay “American Idol” alum Adam Lambert, reacting to Lady Gaga’s decision to dump a distribution deal with Target over gay rights issues. I didn't think that AI was doing all the theme weeks like in the past.. but, doing decades instead.. how do we know (or where did you hear) that they are going back to theme weeks?
I don't really care one way or the other.. just to be clear.. just wondering

If AI does another Adam song next week we'll know for certain it is an intentional hook. Let's take bets....what will the next one be? Next week is Motown so I hear.... I am more amused than peeved at AI appearing to recycle Adam moments this season. TV is infamous for copying successful formats, plots, looks, even whole shows in an attempt to sell an audience. Commercial TV is the epitome of derivative. If they are trying to capitalize on Adam references, it is a high compliment to Adam. However, the amusement comes in when it is obvious that they don't have a clue why Adam made those moments and those references so impressive. Should we clue them in that it is not the SONG that made us watch, but the SINGER? Not the clothing but the fact that it was so appropriate and edgy and original when Adam first wore it on AI? That repeating it cannot have the same impact as the original. Or the impact of the wearer. Or that you can employ all kinds of coaches and mentors to try and make the kids more compelling, but you cannot reproduce the art and craft and many years of creative experience that Adam brought to the show with a few hours of "quick fixes?" You cannot create a personality with all the facets of confidence, daring, originality, compassion and humility that Adam wore naturally? Adam was outstanding for so many reasons that make him impossible to reproduce. He was the perfect storm. You can't manufacture that, no matter what you try. Yup, Adam broke Idol.

Adam looks great, but I have to admit that I wish he'd stop wearing the earrings with the holes in them. I know this sounds ridiculous, but the thing that bothers me the most about them is when his ear casts a shadow on his neck and you can see a circle of light in the shadow. I guess if you have gauges, you figure solid earrings defeat the whole purpose, but I'd kinda rather see the purpose defeated. Still--Adam's ears, Adam's choice. I actually thought pierced ears were gross until I got mine done, so maybe I'll come around to the gauges. For him, not me.

You've said it before cassie that Adam broke Idol and every time you come back on this subject ,you write another perfect reason of "why". I could never come up with these wonderful thoughts and words of "why". Yes Adam broke Idol for me too. And i think that he will brake x-factor too, even before it begins. Because he was never a "wanna be" artist. He was already a one of a kind artist who wanted the right opportunity to show what he was capable of. His friends knew this. I always remember Lee Cherry telling him "you're gonna be larger than life no matter what".
