Lights - is that the Ellie Goulding song you're speaking of? I remember that song from back in the Fall of 2011 - I saw Ellie open for Katy Perry in November. That song, Lights, was getting minimal radio play before I saw it live, and then it disappeared for a while, but now I'm hearing it all over radio again. I was wondering how that happens - there have been a few other songs I've noticed since following Adam that either disappear and come back or have a long, slow climb. A couple examples are the LaRoux song Bulletproof and Gavin Degraw Not Over You. I guess it's money behind them that makes them keep trucking or come back out of hiding then? Makes as much sense as any other explanation. But I wonder how does a new song from a brand new artist (say The Wanted, Fun, or One Direction) go flying up the charts so fast when the song may not be all that special? Is that also a matter of money? Hmmmm wish I knew all the secrets of radio............ Elle Goulding is an Interscope artist and they somehow got Mediabase to put her back on the HAC chart when she went recurrent. We were all, "Huh? WTF?!" Then they got CHR to start spinning. It is an example of great promo by a label (I think.) :-/

I Find this list interesting.. especially where Shady is ranked. I know there are some big lovers of Shady on this board. I certainly didn't "get it" when I first heard it. Trespassing and Kickin in were my favs. Shady was a slow grow because it is honestly, I never heard much if any type of funk growing up. It just sounded alien to me. I think thats also why I don't think this age group would, as a whole, gravitate towards this song at the onset. Now that I have gained familiarity with it, I would almost venture to say it is one of the most brilliant songs on the album. Without this song, I don't think the album would be as strong as it is. YES!!! I was going through some of my old Stevie Wonder music the other night, and as I was listening to Suspicion I thought WHOA!! Just like Shady!! (mind you, there are probably no teens nowadays who even know who Stevie Wonder is)
