AGREE ! but also please remember that he is performing at THE largest EU sports event as one of only two acts. I can't see how one can get any more exposure.... ....still hoping for the Olympics.... the funny thing is that we went thru the same exact discussions the first era... except there was no Queen or Elton John in the mixture... Great exposure indeed! But he is singing Queen's music not his own, hopefully, some will check him out afterwards and like his music as well. As for the Olympics, darling! unless the Queen of England made him a honorary citizen before the ceremony, I'm afraid it's not gonna happen! I would love it, don't get me wrong, but just don't see it in the cards. I was not on board the first era, you mean ya'all had the same gloomy discussion about Adam's first tour which turned out to be the successful GNT? Olympics - IDK... Queen is Queen... I really can't see how anyone including THE Queen can dictate Queen who should be the members of their band... Last time around: I meant the same discussion re "opening" for someone else, but it wasn't gloomy. I don't see the current discussion as gloomy either...

ELLIE GOULDING Lights is now at #8 on CHR, how many tries did it take for that to take off on radio. Wasn't it pulled off the charts and then put back on?

I think a big problem is fans' unrealistic expectations. I remember after GNT ended fans were lamenting the fact that they wouldn't be able to see him in an intimate setting again because he would obviously be playing arenas in the future. I can be pretty delusional myself at times but I cringed at those statements. With a smash single or two, yes it could have been possible, but these things were said with certainty when Trespassing (and any singles) were a complete unknown at the time. I guess this doesn't belong in the numbers thread but it probably doesn't belong upstairs either. And since there's not too much going on right now.......... Bottom line - Opening or headlining I'm for whatever Adam thinks is best. If in fact it is HIS decision.

LOL! However, her label is Interscope. Interscope seems to be able to do things RCA can't. I am just guessing that Jimmy has a lot of respect from radio.

Someone at the very top was going to get it to the top 20, no matter what! From there, it took off because it was so different. If Adam and NCOE has a label willing to push NCOE to the top 20 or 25 like some label did lights, then it has a shot. Lights is a rare exception, not the rule.

I don't think some realsize what type of career a performer has to have to get to the point where they are able to do arenas. The ones that get to that point are few and far between! That's why I wish Adam could open for someone big who was selling out arenas or stadiums overseas. Those in other countries don't have the same closed minds that many in the US have towards AI past contestants. It would be a way for Adam to sing in front of hundreds of thousands of people who have never heard him sing live or seen him perform his own music. Like you said, it's all up to Adam and his team and what they decide on, anyways! It's months away, so I hope Adam gets the types of opportunities he is hoping for- whatever that is!

Bottom line - Opening or headlining I'm for whatever Adam thinks is best. If in fact it is HIS decision. I remember reading that and cringing, too. However, he said that he would tour for Trespassing, and that he wrote the songs on Trespassing assuming that he would perform all of them. He's talking about a tour sometime in 2013, and a lot can happen, or not happen, between now and then. He could do something similar to GNT. That was very lucrative for him, but he disappeared for nonfans while he was at it. Such a tour wouldn't help sell Trespassing, but would he still be selling Trespassing spring of 2013? I don't know. He could open, but then he probably wouldn't get to tour "for" Trespassing, at least not the way he was talking about it in interviews. He could try larger venues, but without singles, he might not be able to fill them. He might get a single or two in the US between now and then, of course, which would change everything. Again, we have months before a possible tour. He could make it big in the UK, and do a headlining European tour. Too many options, and too much uncertainty to predict anything right now.
