Since I'm already being OT. Here's one of my major faves from Loggins and Messina. Talk about some amazing arrangement and instrumentation. I posted this a long time ago, saying that the lyrics can be interpeted to fit Adam's life and road to success.
Pathway to Glory (please just close your eyes and listen)
Lyrics
He's a man in his glory a boy in his dreams And he's living his life in between Tomorrow will answer yesterdays Dreams While today he is living in between
Beware oh brother beware don't you listen to the words (The tender lies) Beware oh brother beware don't you listen to the words
He rejoices in wedlock with a lover unseen And he's living his life in between He thinks of the sorrow his conscience will bring And he's living his life in between
Beware oh brother beware don't you listen to the words The tender lies Beware oh brother beware don't you listen to the words
He measures his wisdom from sorrow he leaves He's living his life in between The pathway to glory is a long road it seems And he's living his life in between
Beware oh brother beware don't you listen to the words (The tender lies) Beware oh brother beware don't you listen to the words

To tie my theme of old songs that are relevant to today's world to Adam, when I first heard Trespassing, I immediately thought of this old classic. Since Adam grew up listening to his parents' music, I wonder if he was influenced by this song a little bit.

I got this in an e-mail this morning. Thought it was pretty funny.
It all makes sense now. Gay marriage and marijuana being legalized on the same day. Leviticus 20:13 - “if a man lays with another man he should be stoned.”
We’ve just been interpreting it wrong all these years!

Oh, yeah, I know Merle really well! Surprising how much he sounds like Willie in this song. My hubby loves all the old country, the old traditional stuff.

Wow! Sugaree, those are GREAT songs you posted this morning. I'm really digging Same Old Wine.
ETA: And KOKE-FM rules!! Blazing the way for independent radio again!
I don't think I'll make the live stream today so I hope there are good vids. Adam is looking so handsome these days!
Thanks for posting about the Hag too. Here is a protest song that I think you'll love, and directly relevant to the situation afflicting both country and pop radio.
I miss the days when the women were ugly And the men were all forty years old Cause you had to say something for the people to listen Now they just do what they're told
Well it's all about idols and pretty blonde hair And how many trucks you can sell Out here in AM country heaven And FM country hell
And this is the most recent song I've downloaded, actually. Pretty much hits it all: jobs, self-censorship, politicians:

Thanks junie! I really like both songs. Added them to my itunes must purchase list. I've enjoyed sharing a few country songs here today. I've gotta post one more that kind of expresses how I feel about a lot of current artists on the radio today. I guess I don't listen enough and there might be some good ones out there. I just haven't heard them. What I don't hear any more are the artists that are instantly recognizable. The ones that sang one note and you knew exactly who they were.
From another one of my all time favorite country artists - talk about instant voice recognition.
George Jones - Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes

Just one more, I promise. Have you ever seen this video? Makes me cry every time. Of course I could watch Kris tie his shoes and it would move me, but the message in this song and video - hope this story doesn't still fit the state of the world 20 years from now.
