Don't we all suffer pain willingly?
I have children. I have tattoos. I have scars.
I regret nothing....... and I am of your generation.
The pain is freeing and fleeting. It has given me gifts. All are works of art that I wear proudly.
I have travelled the world. I have broken records and won medals. I have painted and sculpted. I have sung on stage and heard applause. I have fallen in love and given birth. I have lived.
Pain is easily forgotten. It is not what remains.

geezlouise - beautiful, thought-provoking post. ********** Random poem in honor of recent topic (by Kim Addonizio) First Poem for You
I like to touch your tattoos in complete darkness, when I can’t see them. I’m sure of where they are, know by heart the neat lines of lightning pulsing just above your nipple, can find, as if by instinct, the blue swirls of water on your shoulder where a serpent twists, facing a dragon. When I pull you
to me, taking you until we’re spent and quiet on the sheets, I love to kiss the pictures in your skin. They’ll last until you’re seared to ashes; whatever persists or turns to pain between us, they will still be there. Such permanence is terrifying. So I touch them in the dark; but touch them, trying.

geez~ what a wonderful post! As I was reading everyone's concerns for the pain of getting a tatoo, I thought, but that pain is very temporary, and depending on the location of the tat, sometimes it's really not that bad. And, the pain goes away quickly, almost as soon as the ink is dried. To answer the question as to why someone would willingly endure the pain, for some it is totally worth the minor inconvience.
mika ~ beautiful poem and art, thanks!

Thanks for posting that sad version of Mad World, seoulmate. Very beautiful. Since it's Friday, I wanted to share a couple of nice things that ain't that deep. junie, is that your new bunny? How cute! I've been playing with the new puppy all morning. She's adorable - and feisty. She was the runt and they're always little tuffies. Can't think of a name for her. Thought of Scruffy. I don't like giving dogs people names. Any ideas for doggie names anyone? She's black, with white paws, a little white in her eyebrows, and a white butt (kind of like a white tail deer - just her butt and the underside of her tail). I don't now how to post a picture. Hubby will help with that later. She's sleeping on my bed right now in a pile of dirty clothes I had ready to wash. I guess I'm not doing any laundry today..................

Shady or Cuckoo would be adorable names!!!
I had thought about those for bunny names, but they didn't fit, so my bunny's name is Bulldozer. We usually call him Dozey and it fits in all senses of the word.

This is really funny. I told you guys that hubby wanted to wait to get a dog. He even said that on the way to pick her up and we almost turned around. Also, we had to choose between two females which was tough since they are both beautiful. So a few minutes ago I called him with a few name suggestions. He says "you wanna go get the other one?". I thought he was kidding, but said I would love that while laughing. He said "we should make him an offer for the other one". I was speechless. Who knows - we might be picking up little one's sister later. See what a little sweet puppy can do to a person. I'll keep you guys posted. Men will always be a mystery to me. If I made that suggestion, he would have thought I was nuts.
