Junie,Thanks for posting on the main thread! I have Moon Garden bookmarked now as I didn't know how to get here again with the new Atop. I'm confused enough with basic posting and trying pics and youtubes. Don't have a contribution today, but glad I found you all again. Chapf..mwah..more smileys!! One of my faves for all the dreamers out there..

I just got this in an e-mail. Great words to live by... One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
MORAL : Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less from people but more from yourself.
Man, I love this story... [sigh] Still haven't figured out editing in this new format

Thanks for the contributions, everyone. Alison ... that man prayer ... what a dream.
Things have been so quiet ever since Christmas ... and the Moon Garden seems more hidden than ever now ... I dunno.
In lieu of discussion, here is a very beautiful video. Not long before he died, Maurice Sendak gave a very tender, wise interview with Terry Gross of NPR. Artist Christopher Niemann illustrated it and made this video:
Quote: There’s something I’m finding out as I’m aging — that I am in love with the world…I look right now, as we speak together, out my window in my studio, and I see my trees, my beautiful, beautiful maples that are hundreds of years old. And you see I can see how beautiful they are. I can take time to see how beautiful they are.

Glampoon, thank you for posting that--I have thought of you several times in the last couple of days. I have no doubt that you will find your way and you will continue to be the lovely person you have always been.
Junie, I love that video. I almost posted a link to that exact interview a few months ago. I've listened to it several times. What a wise and kind man he was.
