mika, your big year post was beautiful and something I'd love to be able to revisit and think about.

Mika, your story touches me deeply and I relate to the feelings of being lost and looking for inspiration. I need time to process before I respond, but just want you to know that it was not self-indulgent--it was generous to share yourself with us. You are a beautiful person.

Nod.
(I got that from someone who used to post here a loong time ago, when the chat room was big. I was like, "Huh?" And she explained, "I'm nodding - I'm reading, I'm interested, etc.") Etc.

Mika - Now I feel like a spammer, but I just had to respond to you.
First of all - "The Big Year" - you watched it!- I am a birder, so I totally got what this movie is all about (even though it flopped at the box office). Although I now do most of my birding locally, I have traveled to places I never thought I would go to (like this tiny island in the Bering Sea 40 miles from Siberia), I've learned much about the geography and flora and fauna of places I've visited, and I've met many interesting people along the way. Also, in meeting fellow birders wherever I am, I find that we can instantly connect and talk almost in short-hand - something that I think must be true in meeting fellow Adam fans.
My interest and passion about Adam is similar to my birding passion and interests - he is just about one of the most talented persons I've ever come across - and I'm so taken with his beauty, persona and almost child-like qualities (not "childish", but "child-like" like "The Little Prince"). I would love to go to more concerts, but because of RL family and financial constraints, I need to pick and choose carefully - but each event I've gone to has had something special and different (e.g., the latest Costa Mesa concert because my brother of all people came with me).
So I understand your passion and your journey - stay with it! I think many of us who are on this site have had our lives opened up and changed for the better because of this remarkable man who does it not only through his singing, but also by just by being himself.

Junie, Alison, Bridget, and Annala - Thank you for the kind words. I realize there are many more interesting stories than mine but for some reason I wanted to share it here with you. Don't worry, I really don't think this is the start of a confessional trend on my part (Tho I realized belatedly it wld create a bit of a blank if I deleted my post so I'll leave it -- soon we'll be on a new page and this is a quiet corner.) Annala - It's great that you're a birder! I loved the movie - it was low-key but very humane I thought.

Late to the party but I am SO THRILLED another single will be released soon!!
I am with Q3. I think it will be Cuckoo and that will be great - no complaint at all but in my heart I love the fierce Trespassing and I always think the title track should be released. It is his mission statement. But I know he loves them both. Can't lose with either. Just not wanting NL.

mika - brave and beautiful of you to open up.
I am sure that the great majority of us has experienced profound changes "gifted" by Adam. We are so very blessed.
Thank you, mika.

Hi, you guys. This morning I spent a little time on some of the other threads, thinking to catch up a bit and start to grab some of the pictures I missed. My kicky feelings were almost immediately overwhelmed by icky feelings. Is it a cop-out just to hang out in here most of the time? I hope not. Photographer: Einsilbig mika, I re-read your post about your Big Year and I think it's a classic. Brilliantly expressed. One of the best pieces of Adam fan writing I've ever read. You said many things that I have felt. I'll just choose one passage: more in fascination - he was sweet chutzpah and unbridled enthusiasm sporting a blinding talent, all wrapped in a physical beauty he clearly wasn't certain of and powered by a sunny heart, steely determination, and wicked sense of humor. If my world had turned gray, Adam was the one technicolor part left.I hope you moonies will find this video as daring, breathtaking, and wondrous as I did. This shows the "Pearls of Russia" female skydiving team setting a world record for a flower formation. There are really are some people doing amazing things in this old world, and doing 'em just for the hell of it.

In any event, I realize that whatever the next phase brings, I no longer view my "Big Year" as a lost year, but as a found one.. mika, your post was absolutely stunning--this line struck me in particular. This is why I am an editor and not a writer. I can recognize great writing and not touch it and I can recognize bad writing and fix it, but I can't really create it myself. Yours, I wouldn't change a word.

Wow, love your post Mika. I popped in here to find some recaps because love them and never get tired of them and reading them is a close as I have got to attending an Adam Lambert concert. So thank you all!
