Mellie, I couldn't find the video from the original source (Music Choice?) so I just went to YT. But, yes, hits are always good.

I forgot how great that F-word interview was. Adam was very thoughtful and insightful there.
I agree with sugaree that Adam's tweeting that old Paul McCartney video just left me scratching my head. The context that Gelly provided explains it a little more. McCartney was not very articulate in the interview, in my opinion. But to summarize his point, I agree what he was trying to say was that the media puts celebrities in a terrible position vis a vis elements of their lifestyle that might not be so popular with the public. The celebrity is essentially invited to:
1. Lie. Setting one's self up to be later outed as a hypocrite. Or 2. Tell the truth and have it sensationalized.
I agree with McCartney's point that HE did not embark on a public campaign to encourage the use of drugs and should not be blamed for doing so. Any more than Adam goes around "recruiting," as the old canard against gays goes.
sugaree has a valid point that McCartney copped out a bit in claiming that he didn't think anyone would potentially use drugs because of his example. He was young when this was filmed and perhaps naive about the Beatles' influence.
I think one of the toughest things about this question that is pot and LSD helped the Beatles achieve some of their best and most ground-breaking music and they may have had a similar effect on Adam's life. Yet we all know so many lives that have been destroyed by drugs that it's a taboo subject and difficult for artists to be honest about.
I'm not sure why Adam chose to address the issue now or this way. I think he actually speaks for himself much better than McCartney did or does now for that matter. (Love him, by the way -- I would hope the whole human race embraces Paul at this point.)

Wow! I have never seen that "F" word interview. Thank you! And thanks to everyone for their comments, insights and real Adam stories, quotes and videos. I've enjoyed it all very much. And my physical therapists will be thrilled at how much typing I did today  .

Just jumping in again with a few perspectives on some of the topics of late from a "senior citizen" here.
First of all, on Adam's tweet of the Paul McCartney interview. I believe his reason for tweeting this had more to do with the stresses of fame and media as a whole than with drug use in particular. It's obvious that he thinks about these stresses and he has passed these concerns on to us through his tweet. Adam's "F Word" interview is excellent and deals with all of this directly - and I'm glad it was brought up here.
Now for the "senior citizen" perspective. I first came upon the Beatles through a British friend when they were still the "lads from Liverpool" and I loved them from the get-go - their freshness, their sense of humor, and their chutzpah. They were popular in England, but not so much here in the states yet - but then John Kennedy was assassinated and our world was turned upside down. And for us to try to heal, we badly needed these Liverpool lads, the Beatles. They soon became a huge success not only in the UK and the United States, but all over the world. Here at home the JFK assassination was followed by the assassinations of Bobby Kennedy, Martin Luther King, the Chicago riots, the Viet Nam War, the Summer of Love in San Francisco, and more - it was a turbulent time to live through - I guess you could say "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times". And through it all, there were the Beatles continuing to evolve, experiment, and coming out with these incredible songs and music which spoke directly to us during those confusing times. I can't emphasize enough how important and influential the Beatles were during that period - they were larger than life, and the press and media hung onto every word and action of these men. While the McCartney interview was obviously done fairly early in their success, you can imagine the pressures that continued to follow these men throughout their tenure as "the Beatles".
Different topic - Adam and American Idol judging. So much speculation going on right now! I originally said that if Adam wanted it, then I would want it for him as well, and I still feel that way. However, it seems lately that the emphasis is on which stars will be on the judging panel and whose career will be given a boost, but very little thought being given to discovering new talent. I think at this point, I would almost rather see Adam as a mentor where he could work more in depth one-on-one with the contestants - where he could really have the opportunity to teach, encourage and share his own experiences of being a contestant - I think this is where he is really has something to offer.
Finally - I'm happy to see more Atoper's coming to the Moon Garden. This is my "go-to" site, and I love the discussions, thoughts, pictures, and relaxed ambience here.

I've been wanting to leave something poetical for you guys - just to keep up the hippy dippy reputation of the Moon Garden dontcha know? But nothing seemed right until I found this one in an old file. I offer it to the lovely, passionate Moon Dancers. I think it's too long to post so I went looking for a link to full poem - I'm not familiar w/the blogger I'm linking to but she's a Buffy fan so I'm giving her the benefit of a doubt. ********* busy-nothings.blogspot.com/2006/02/for-desire.htmlFor Desire Kim Addonizio....Give me the love who yanks open the door of his house and presses me to the wall in the dim hallway, and keeps me there until I'm drenched and shaking, whose kisses arrive by the boatload and begin their delicious diaspora through the cities and small towns of my body..
