On the subject of music ... I love these stories, annala and sugaree. It really is so magical. Some of you may have seen this, but if you have not it is really worth it.
mszue, I have been thinking about what you wrote here:
How many people will not admit to being a fan of Adam because of how they feel others will 'judge' them....because he is so feminine, wears make-up, dresses so edgy, kisses boys [and would we care if he did not have pictorial proof of this scattered through out the internet]. WHY DO ALMOST ALL OF US HAVE NAMES AND AVI'S THAT HIDE OUR IDENTITY and why do so many of us hesitate to 'come out' as Adam fans to most of our family and friends...
I wonder how this community (or other online communities) would be different if we were all outed with our real names, pictures, and areas of actual knowledge. A great deal of uncivil behavior would be gone, I suspect ... but freedom of thought and expression would dry up as well. I love the chance to be a fan without having to account to people in real life who wouldn't understand ... while at the same time, holding myself to the standard that if Adam himself read what I wrote, I would be OK with it.

sugareeLoved your baby robin story so much when first time you posted it. Made this smiley for you that day. Now he is helping you recover from the injury, right?

Awww. Love it chapf. Yep, he and all the other birdies and squirrels that I feed in the yard have always helped me - when times are good or bad. I liked animals better than a lot of people I know. ETA: the one finger typing is hysterical. Maybe I can get one of the sparrows to dance on the keyboard for me. Probably get better results.

Thank you, Juniemoon, for posting this video. Oh, the memories! For 20 years, I worked as a CNA in long term care. I saw this happen time and time again. Music was/is such a big part of the lives of these sweet elderly people. I have seen this happen with completely unresponsive people, and it is such a wonder. And, it's not always just an unreponsive person. I remember one woman who had had a stroke and lost her ability to speak correctly. She fought so hard for her words, would even curse, which she had never done before in her life. When we played her music, either on a CD or a tv program, she could sing the words perfectly. I don't know how many times I ended up in tears by the response of someone just by playing music for them. This vid also brought me to tears. I really miss these small miracles. Sugaree, love your story about your dog and your sweet robin. I sing to my furries too. My old dog, Quincy, who left for the rainbow bridge back in 2000 had his own song too. I used to call him Quincy Doodle and would sing *Quincy Doodle went to town, a ridin' on a pony* etc., etc. He would just sit and watch me and almost smile. Foster was my doggie boy who left me a year ago. His song was *You Are My Sunshine*. He was a darling, ginger boy with *white icing*. He had such a sunny disposition, right to the end. I can't even get 2 words of that song out now without tearing up. Even thinking about it now has me in tears. Music is such an amazing thing. It seriously makes me feel, when sometimes I might not. It goes into my soul. As far as how I would interact with others if I was *out* as far as who I really am, my name, etc. Well, one thing I have always tried to do in online communities is be myself. I rarely ever type a response without thinking about what I am saying and if it would hurt someones feelings. I try to post as if I am actually speaking to the person in real life. That doesn't mean I don't disagree with some posts, get upset with some posts/people, or get down right po'd sometimes...lol! I might even type a long post that isn't particularly nice...but then read it over and delete. And, glittergma pretty much defines me...lol!! As my Mom before me, I love to be a bit more glittery than most at my age would and being a Gma is the most fantastic thing that has ever happened to me. But then, that's just me. I kind of envy some people who just blurt out what they think....sometimes. But, I'll stay as I am. I'm happy there. About hair...oh my! I'm struggling with myself right now about a change. It's a hard thing for me to do. I've had long hair for 95% of my life. I wear it curly and up in a poofy ponytail...lol! I have been thinking for several months about getting it cut short and having it highlighted. I have dark hair (with gray that gets colored). So it would be a major change for me. And, so far, I've chickened out...lol! I have 3 weeks until my son & soon to be DIL get here from HI for their wedding. Still thinking about it. I am fortunate in that my oldest sons wife, here in town, is a hairdresser. So, it's all free for me!! YAY! Sorry I haven't posted here in a while. I do read here and on the main board. Just have been really busy with work and getting more and more hours lately. All is going good and am even learning more tricks of the trade in different departments besides bookkeeping. It's just, by the time I get everything read, I'm exhausted, behind, and ready for bed. Sorry bout it!! But, I so enjoy all the conversations, poems, pics and musings here in the Moon Garden. It is my place to come to and relax and share the love. Thank you all for the most wonderful posts. They always make me think and are very educational. I'll try to post a bit more often, but not making any promises. Lots to be done before the wedding and then will be busy for that whole week! I can't wait!! Oh, and I love where they are getting married also. It's a park here in town called the Sunken Gardens. It even has a big water fountain and is filled with the most beautiful flowers. It will be a glorious day! And, a friend of my sons will also be coming from HI (he's from here originally) to perform the ceremony. Happy times!! After rereading this post, it's pretty disjointed...kind of like me right now. I'm going to leave it as is since I have tons of stuff to do and I've already procrastinated enough today! And, it's pretty much the way I am most days, disjointed...lmao!

glittergma, love your writing about trying to be yourself in your posts. Me too. I picked this name as my diary entry 40 years ago so it really is "me".
On the hair front. I had the longest hair I've ever had this year (ponytail to the side) It was starting to catch under my armpits and on the car headrest, lol. So the solution to determining to cut it off is to give it away. Locks of Love will take hair (minimum 10 inches which is just right at armpit hair to give you a chin cut) and yes they take colored gray hair. They sell it if they can't use it themselves. Hairdressers will put it in a couple of small pony tails and cut it off dry. Then you go online, print out a donation page, fill in and send to Locks of Love. I cut mine last week.

I really enjoyed your post, glittergma. I wish you could still work as a CNA. We need people like you caring about our older folks. Tea and SympathyAdam's interview over tea in the Japanese garden yesterday captivated me. For one thing, I love Japanese gardens. There is a Japanese peace garden in Fredericksburg, Texas, that was a gift from the Japanese people to the Museum of the Pacific War there, and I love visiting it. I've also visited the great Japanese garden in Portland and tried for a while to turn my yard into a Japanese garden ... which didn't work out so well in Texas. Anyway, I totally adored the juxtaposition of Adam's outlandish choice of outfits with the genteel and gentlemanly manner in which he conducted himself. It may sound crazy, but Adam was so courtly and charming that he reminded me of a romantic hero straight out of Jane Austen or the Bronte Sisters. After all, what makes a Regency hero? 1. Intelligence. A Regency hero can speak in actual paragraphs, with layers of wit, irony, and seductive wordplay. They do battle with their speech, communicating real ideas to their friends, enemies, and lovers. 2. They have duality in spades. Mr. Darcy and Mr. Rochester are moody and dark, yet can talk endlessly about their feelings. Only WE can embrace the brooding, broken soul because WE can see the fine, noble, compassionate man that co-exists with him. 3. It's all about respect. A Regency hero brings primal sensuality to the table, but it's his ability to know that honor never comes easy, and that love and humanity are worth fighting for, that makes us keep turning the page far into the night. 4. The Regency hero loves us back. He does not fall for the prettiest and the most demure kid on the block. Instead he loves us for being defiant, intelligent, and vulnerable. 5. I learned a new word this week: louche. It means: disreputable or sordid in a rakish or appealing way. Adam is louche in a big way -- all about self-indulgence, seeking physical pleasure, elegance and leather. YUM! 6. Plus the hair! During the Regency it was all about the hair!!! And the pants -- and the boots!!! The great Regency heroes live on because women and men and transgendered folks everywhere dream of finding a diamond in the rough to love, who happens to be gorgeous and rich. It ain't that deep!! Meet you in the garden, Mr. Darcy!!!

I just learned about this ... it seems so relevant today ... This is Jizo, a beloved Japanese Buddhist being known for his infinite loving nature and gentleness. Jizo began as a savior from hell's torment, but in Japan he fused with traditional folk beliefs and is also the patron of travelers and of pregnant women, the unborn, babies, and children -- anyone on a journey whether physical or spiritual. Jizo is said to have both masculine and feminine characteristics and is often represented as a baby monk. He is unafraid to walk through hell. In Japanese a beautiful face is called a "Jizo-kao" -- the face of Jizo. There are shrines where people dedicate small statues of Jizo for their loved ones. The Journey One day you finally knew what you had to do, and began, though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice-- though the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at your ankles. "Mend my life!" each voice cried. But you didn't stop. You knew what you had to do ... (Mary Oliver -- more at peacefulrivers.homestead.com/MaryOliver.html)

You guys, Just to let you know, I am going on vacation. I'll peek in a couple of times before we head out tomorrow morning, and then see you in about a week! I probably won't have internet access ... I hope there is cool Adam news to catch up on when I get back! If "Idol" is still playing Hamlet, there's going to be blood on the walls. Somebody please keep the Moon Garden watered while I am gone.

Have a great vacation, Junie. Here is a moonrise picture from a vacation of a few years ago - a Bristlecone Pine in the White Mountains of Eastern California
