I've been wondering the same thing. I'm not sure I'm happy about his comments. :-/ If FYE and GNT are considered "campy" then I'm going on record to say I will miss the camp. But then again he does give us what we didn't know we wanted, doesn't he? I didn't know I wanted camp & apparently I did. So maybe I'll wind up wanting "honest & organic" (whatever that means). I thought FYE was pretty damn honest. I fell in love with theatrical Adam and I'll miss him if he goes away. But I'm a pushover for anything he does so it's all good! I haven't worried for one minute over what Adam is going to do in the next album. On Idol, Adam was never repetitive with his performances. I think, or rather hope, that we will be getting the same thing with his CD's. I love me some camp but I'm excited at the prospect of getting a different flavor from Adam this time. He is so incredibly multidemensional that I think it's a smart move to show the world something different. I want Adam making music for us for a long time and I just see this as another piece of the entire body of work he will make. ITA, tinafea!!! I'm not the least bit worried. He IS so multidimensional and I think he really has his eyes on establishing himself as an artist and songwriter who isn't just all flash and fun, but really has something powerful to say. He is so savvy and he knows to be critically acclaimed and accepted into the "elite" artist community, he has to produce powerful work. And I also don't worry one iota that he won't be able to work whatever he comes up with into a dazzling, fun, breathtaking stage show. I mean look how much he modified FYE for GNT? He kept the camp; he kept the depth; he kept the message. He can do the same for his next stage show, I have no doubt. He's rather creative that way. ETA: WTF, I am having major code-copy fail today. >:(

Bamafan I don't have any NEW stories to tell since September - It has been pretty quiet in Kentucky since Adam whirled through, though Gaga was here last weekend, if that counts. And the only man in my life is now ADAM, so it will be up to all the newbies to share! Though ljsmack can spin a good tale or two- She and I were both at the Indianapolis show, which was AWESOME. I am trying hard to be a DVD/CD virgin until Mayumis so it will be all new! It will be great to see everyone again and to enlarge our circle - Wouldn't it be great to have an Atop gathering with Adam present - I don't know who would be the last survivor - but I don't even think Adam can keep up with this bunch!! See you and the "gang" soon! You'll have to re-tell some of your stories...one in particular, I recall was the highlight of the night ! And Needacoke has a few doozies she can share as well. Poor Mayumi, she'll have her hands full with this bunch.

I'm not sure what his new album will sound like, although I do believe he wants his voice front and center. Truthfully I guess FYE was over processed at times, but because I just like what I like without knowing why, I loved it and it sounded like Adam to me! We know he never does the same exact thing twice. Seems like lots of pop is campy. It's FUN!!
Look before I started stanning this man I didn't know over processed was a term used for a pop album!!
I trust him completely. This is his journey, his vision and I'm really, really happy to go along.

I have a question for you all. Adam keeps saying the next album will be "more organic." I get that remark. But he also keeps saying it will be "less campy." This confuses me. The only thing campy, to me, on FYE was the cover. I can't think of a single song, I would consider "campy." If I were to think of some recent songs, in the Pop world, that are "campy" California Gurls and Tik Tok come to mind. But of the songs on FYE, nothing. What does he mean by that? Oh, I think a lot of the songs are campy, personally, especially when you watch Adam perform them, and I mean this as a compliment--they're funny and charming and a little willfully bizarre. Just a couple of examples of the top of my head--Music Again, and Strut. Watch Adam perform either of those songs, with the strutting about and the elaborate eye roles and the put on accents and occasional (for lack of a better word) "broadway" intonation to the singing and I think they are wonderful camp at its finest! (Like a lot of moments in Freddy Mercury's performances). The GN Live Strut is a perfect example, for me, of a camp performance by Adam (and while I agree California Girls is a little campy, I don't find Tik Tok that campy at all, just more straightforward tongue in cheek, perhaps). To be honest, I've had to swallow my protests a few times lately when I've heard Adam talking about Album 2, and saying it will be more honest and less camp, because to me camp and honest aren't mutually exclusive, especially in Adam, who pulls off camp with such natural charm that it feels like he's simply being a wonderfully exaggerated version of his own free self. I love Adam's campiness and that he doesn't deny himself it, and I hope he continues not to. But I understand of course what he means when he says that, and just remind myself of my total faith in him, and in his ability and intention to produce something wonderful and surprising. On Adam's remark, I think he doesn't actually say that camp is not honest -- he says the new album will be more honest and less campy -- two different things. But not totally unrelated. On the honesty -- I believe that is very consistent with when he has talked about writing all of the songs, referring to his journal, and making a more personal statement on this album. FYE was mostly songs written by other people for other singers or themselves -- Soaked, WWFM, FYE, Soaked, IIHY and so all were also old demos. On camp -- I believe if you look up the definition of Campy --- it says: 1. Cover of Adam Lambert's "For Your Entertainment". 2. Adam Lambert's performance of "Strut". Real definitions ---- Webster's New World Dictionary of the American Language, 1976 edition, sense 6, [Slang, orig., homosexual jargon, Americanism] banality, mediocrity, artifice, ostentation, etc. so extreme as to amuse or have a perversely sophisticated appeal The term goes back to early 20th century US. It became a more widely used in the US in the early 1970's and was very closely associated with gay artists, style and designers. Some websites state the term originated in 1955-1960 -- but the earliest known written reference i can find is 1909 and the expression may be older. Undoubtedly this use of the term originated in the US Gay Community in the New York area. JMHO -- when Adam says less campy, I think he means less theatrical, less gay, more mainstream pop-rock. But that is just my impression. ("Strut" live is one of my favs -- so I hope "Campy Adam" never really leaves us.) There are so many of these around that I've lost count . But just adding this one here anyway, as it is made to one of my very favourite songs by Jenni Vartiainen. Ahhh, Zinnia! What a lovely song. The words are so sweet!

Speaking of charity:water, has anyone on Atop received their photo of Adam yet? Not freaking, just curious.. ??? I was in the first e-mail bundle, but so far, no go. Have no doubts I'll get it..it is the computer bumpkin in me that whispers.."ya didn't fill the return e-mail out right, ya didn't....gerbils, gerbils everywhere Mine came in on Wednesday. I received the e-mail on March 1. On another GNAFL charity note, I'm watching NCAA basketball and the NCAA is partnering with DonorsChoose on the "Fund the Future" Campaign: ncaafundthefuture.org/
