I agree, mys*&@^#r, what Kraddick's blog tells me is that the "Idol bias" is real. And that it is possibly Adam's biggest obstacle.

maddie, I've thought this a few times also, but then I realized that Queen fans would probably love Trespassing, Shady, Kickin In, Chokehold, Broken Open, OOL, Underneath, Runnin, Take Back, and Nirvana! IMO, those songs all have a Rock edge. Also, Queen music crosses so mnay genres, as does Adam's. But they both have the amazing vocals in common. The sad thing is, though, that all the albums sold at these London concerts will not count for the chart. While those songs do possess a Rock edge but it's the overall dancey, tech/electronic production that could be a turn off to a lot of Rock fans. I recall reading a post from a Queen fan on this board (sorry, forgot his name) that he enjoyed FYE, liked him in concert but NOT a fan of TSP. But, a Queen concert in the US would only be a huge win for Adam: the exposure, the cred and esteem, and new fans!

Well if you believe in Karma (and I don't necessarily) he should be getting it back big time. Karma in the cut-throat business world?? Hmmm, let me ponder on that...maybe more like "brownie points"???

Or they already have proven hits, so no problem with radio. But Scotty, although Country, seems to negate that argument. Obviously the weight of having #1 album did not factor into PD's adding his single to their roster. AND when he did get adds, the spins he received were at night or when fans voted in games. Radio never gave him a chance. I listened to a song by USHER called Scream today and it had such a similar beat to NCOE just the voice much more smooth not as clear. NCOE has a good hook and fits right into the TOp 40. NAH There has to be some issue besides have the stigma of being an AI alumni.

Carrie and Scotty are both Country. No stigma there for Idols. Kelly is the original and back when she first made it big with Breakaway, there were only 3 Idols and she was the only one in Pop. I don't think Idol saturation is the only problem. I truly feel that RCA screwed up. But we can't ignore Kraddick's blog. I doubt he's the only big station DJ that feels like that

I am not following closely but the follow up singles he has released have not exactly burned up the charts. Just as for Adam IIHY did reasonably well but not fantastic and then this era has been a bust. Scotty's first song did best and the second ok but that is no guarantee that he will be embraced by radio next go round.

Ok but factor in the equation that he was Grammy nominated, has a decent fan base, had a small but successful tour , received positive critique on his new album, yes, he is basically supposedly being treated as a new artist in the business but still doesn't answer the question of why the hugh struggle to be added and spun at prime times or at least being put into day rotation.
Heck a new artist from UK Ed Sheeran has received more day time spins that NCOE. I think the song and his voice are so-so. Yes he is successful over in UK but so was Adam successful. I just rated-the-music and Ed was on the list but I never had a chance to rate NCOE because it's never been listed. WHY?
IDK It's all so very mind boggling that the door has been slammed on him this era because IMO, a very unopiniated, biased and fair true blue fan, LOL this song had every reason to make it to the TOp 10 if not the Top 20.

I just rated-the-music and Ed was on the list but I never had a chance to rate NCOE because it's never been listed. WHY? If you look at the current residents of the top 40 chart, very few of them come with resumes of Grammy nominations, large uber passionate fan bases, or sold-out world tours of any size. Radio is a business surviving on ads sponsorship, therefore it caters to their target audiences and follows the trends. And, the current Pop world is under the "British Invasion" (thanks to Adele) and more leaning towards teen than 2 years ago. Adam essentially IS a new artist with one top 10 hit, as far as radio concerns there shouldn't be any reasons to warrant any special treatment (unless deals are involved). Ed Sheeran is VERY successful in the UK: the lead single "The A Team" sold over 800,000 copies in the UK in 2011 and his debut album, released in Sep. 2011, has sold over 1 million copies as of March 2012. In 2012, he won two BRIT Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist, and British Breakthrough of the Year, while "The A Team" also won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. Adam, on the other hand, has just started to make some impressions on the UK market (Radio 1 still not onboard yet). However, Adam is a much bigger celebrity and "star" than most of those top 40 charters. People might not own his music, or hear his music on the radio, but they certainly know who he is; and, whether you love him or hate him, people are talking about him. He's undeniably one of the greatest live performers today, which is his greatest asset, beside his voice. Coupling with his larger than life personality and intelligence, his options and opportunities are abundant!

But, like Adele, it is "cool" to like Ed Sheeran right now. My brother, who is pretty much a music snob, was talking about him the other day. This is the type of guy who will also show up on SNL next year. The Idol stigma is tough.
Scotty got that quick AI platinum album---he is country and was a popular winner. But, he is struggling. His singles aren't doing well. Album #2 for him will be a whole other story.
