I am guessing the band and Adam took the day off yesterday to travel and to rest. Today I bet they are holed up in a space somewhere rehearsing. They would want to go over the rough patches from Kiev's performance, fix things that didn't work, review things that were a bit shaky. That is typical after a dress rehearsal. What do y'all think? At least Roger Taylor's wife was at the footie finale yesterday as per her twitter. And as per her tweet + pic from a few hours ago, my guess is they flew to Moscow today. |

I know I was nervous during the first few songs and it did feel that something was "off." The mix was set so that Adam's voice was a bit lost in the music and the fast version of We Will Rock You was new to me so it all felt a bit unsettled. However, that went away very quickly and it got better and better especially the 2nd half. Part of it was that I realized that I wasn't sure how the crowd would react to him and once I saw that they were "getting" him I was able to relax in a new way. Which, of course, means shaking and crying and running around my living room.
I was telling my mom, "Just in case anyone DIDN'T know how awesome Freddie was, they are showing a movie about him right before Adam comes out to sing in his place!" BALLS OF STEEL. Adam's got them.

I agree with whoever said that Queen intentionally builds the intensity of the show by design. I suppose Adam was nervous in the beginning, but the lower energy seemed to me to be Adam wanting to hang back just a bit to fit in with the band, rather than to come out with guns blazing, shouting "Look at me, look at me, hear me kill it!" That would have been disrespectful to Queen.
Also, for me, the songs at the beginning were ones I was not familiar with, not having been a Queen fan. So, I didn't get into them as much. As the concert progressed, they played more music I recognized, and therefore enjoyed more.

I really, really love the theatrical nature of the Queen songs. Adam has the range to sing these songs we all know that. That might actually have been "enough." That he adds the amazing theatrical aspects IN THIS THE FIRST SHOW just blows the roof off. I can't imagine how epic it will get as he gets more and more comfortable with the material. THIS WAS A SHOW! Not just playing some songs!
