Nica, thank you so much for your translation...it kind of confirms what I suspected from listening (and understanding about 15 % or so - lol), that they treated Adam with disrespect and did him a disservice in this interview.
And this is going to be a bit of a rant, so beware, but I just have to get that off my chest first, so skip down to the break, if you don't want to read it.
Adam is again the gay 'freakshow' with whom you can only talk about shopping and boyfriends and nonsense as compared to a real talent like Martel with whom he anyways might be soon replaced. Pure speculation, but who cares.
But Adam lives in luxury. $ 4500 a night and he is used to it. No wonder they ask him about his rider because those stupid diva stories were spread again starting in Kiev. Same thing US TV tried 3 years ago, remember those totally fabricated diva stories all over NBC? They wanted it to be true. The stories did not have any legs, because they were so obviously contrary to Adam's nature as well as humble behavior, but they were enough to do damage and be picked up by somebody who wanted to report negatively.
Same saga again here.
Also, as music examples they picked out moments of the show where nothing special was happening, certainly Adam's voice did not get put on display, then they blend to the Marc Martel video and pic his glory notes, sounding exactly like Freddie. Nobody seams to care that he cannot do the whole catalog, has only limited range and limited charisma and has no understanding of the life that Freddie lived and expressed in his songs. Who cares about details like that.
So obviously, based on this TV report, Brian and Roger must be the complete stone-deaf and crazy that they cannot hear that they are traveling with the wrong guy. : Media distortion at its finest.
But you get that same nonsense over on the Queen fan boards. 80 pages of glorification of the Extravaganza and mostly negative attitude towards Adam, the real deal. People want the fake, it is less intimidating.
And they use supposedly experience as an argument. What I don't quite understand is, what is this great experience that MM has? He sings in a church choir and has a band. Really?
Then he went on an online talent search show and won.
Adam went on a TV talent show and as far as I hear, he also won. But somehow that makes him 'Karaoke Kid'. Adam also has a # 3 album and a # 1 album in US, a Grammy nomination, a sold out world wide tour and collaborations left and right, but that just seems to prove his inexperience, as compared to mister church band leader, who has none of these things.
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against MM, was very impressed by his STL video and wish him all the best, but for the life of me, I am not able to explain why he has so much more credibility or experience than Adam....
Except of that all important gay factor, I suppose. :-/
Sorry, just had to vent a little.

With regards to the other discussion, put me in the camp: Rock musical, rock opera I can see in Adam's future, musical - not so much, please no, at least not for a long, long time.
I am glad he is finally where he belongs, and not somewhere in Spiderman or some similar show on Broadway. For Adam that would just be a day job, not a dream.
His voice: I agree with the crystal clear ringing boys choir, angels ice-scating vocals on the upper end of his range, if he uses his headvoice straight without manipulation, but he can give us other sounds too, i.e. rock wails or a thinner falsetto, etc. if he chooses so.
In the middle and lower ranges, Adam has this beautiful lyrical tenor voice and I can see why someone can say, but that is not a typical rock voice.
The rock cred comes because he can add the grit or resonance in the lower notes and does have the rock wails for the higher notes and that together makes for a strong package, if you don't have to use this combination all the time, which for Queen songs he does not have to do.
I think the reason we are even talking about this is because most of Freddie songs are at least two keys to low for Adam. They are written for Freddie's sweet spot, not Adam's. Not sure, why not at least some of the songs are transposed up a bit for Adam, actually, it would automatically add shine, brilliance and ultimately more of a overall rock appeal. Right now, the songs set in Adams lower register seem a bit forced (SSOR for example) and that is why this discussion of Adam being less rock even comes up.
In most other situations, the discussion has been the other way, that he should be more rock leaning and not just pop. It is kind of strange to find the opposite discussion tonight, but I think that this is probably the reason.
